Deaarka was relieved to hear Penny’s voice, he looked at her, nuzzling his face against her warm hand. Slowly, his body shifted and he transformed back into his human form, the injuries far worse than when he was a wolf. He let out a loud and human cry of pain, but sat up despite it.
“No time, Penny! You have to get Isca out—“ he paused, grasping at the now visible wound on his side, “—out of here! There is… something.. I thought I could stop him, I’m… I’m s..” Deaarka paused again for a long moment, his face twisted in agony as he shook. Finally he opened his eyes, except they were to Isca. “They know where you both live—this.. I don’t know what he is. He wants you, Isca. The power you posse—d-damnit.”
Deaarka turned his gaze back over to Penny, “Penny, find Boris in the town. She needs a place to stay, somewhere no one will know to look. He came to my home first… destroyed it. I tried to throw him off, but… I failed. He’s t-too strong for me to take on my own. I’m s-sorry.” With that, Deaarka stood, his leg spilling more blood onto the floor. He tried to muffle his cries of pain by clenching his jaw shut.
“He’s coming, you both need to leave, now! I can… my wolf form isn’t as injured as my human one. I can hold him off, distract him and blow him off course until you two are gone, but hurry!”

Penny looked at Deaarka unbelievingly. She grabbed hold of his as he stood, propping him up against her to support him. "Don't you dare even think for a second that I could leave you alone like this!" She swalled, fighting back the burning tears, trying her best to prove strong.
"Isca, if Deaarka says you have to get out of here, then get out of here. I showed you the way to Borris' house. Go there!"
Isca stood, her eyes frozen on Deaarka and her aunt Penny. She could see the fear in Penny's eyes... feel the pain on Deaarka's face. Whatever this was, it seemed to come out of nowhere. They hardly had time to train together, and Isca was still fairly childish. She knew that she needed to grow up, and fast. Its time like these when a leader needs to stand...
"No." She said defiantly. "We all go, or we all fight. If we are to protect this place, I need all of you. I can't let anything happen to you guys. I watched my father die for me... I wont let the same thing happen to you all."
Penny looked at Isca admiringly. She was growing up in such little time... Already proving her place as leader. But now wasn't the time to be brave. "Isca look at him!" She shrieked, clinging to Deaarka as best she could. Even as a nurse, he had been so mutilated that she didn't know how to begin to help. "WE can't let this happen to YOU. Right now, you are the only one that matters!"
Isca inhaled shakily. This wasn't the time to argue. She closed her eyes and concentrated. At an alarming rate, her body morphed into that which was very wolf-like, with extra attributes such as a human figure, rippling muscles, and very long, pin-like fur jutting from the back of her head, replacing her green locks of wild hair.
"I'll go." She spoke to them in a beastial voice. "But I'll be back! Like I said, we fight together. I will not abandon you." She gave them a brief stare, engraving their faces into her memory. She would not let herself forget this if she failed... and she would not give up until she knew they would be safe. Finally, she turned, and exploded out of a side window, her wolfish body carrying her deep into the woods.
Penny looked at Deaarka sadly. "Dea... don't try to fight this. Please, lay down... let me help. If- whatever you're talking about... arrives, I'll handle it. Let me take care of your wounds..."

Deaarka cursed silently as Isca left and Penny remained. “Penny… why.. dammnit.” He couldn’t help it anymore, and clung to her, one of his knees giving out. In his pain and weary state of mind, he felt a sentimental feeling wash over him.
“Remember… that day you found me? I was mad, insane. I didn’t know how to control the beast inside me, I was terrorizing anyone that stepped into the woods..” his voice weakened as his eyes fluttered. But he would be damned if he closed them; he kept them glued to the gaping black hole that was the door.
“But you found me. You looked me right in the eye and—remember? You said:” He coughed, spitting blood onto the floor with a pained wheeze, “y-you… said that I was part of a pack. There was no I anymore, it was… we. I had to do everything to protect the other members. And… I did, for the most part.”
His grip around Penny’s shoulder slowly loosened as he took a step forward, his gaze burning into the night. “The pack needs you, Penny. Isca may be our saviour, but you..” he turned his head to her, “you’re everything.” He let out a loud and painful grunt as he started to shift again, back into his wolf form, though somehow larger than before; obviously harnessing more power from the demon inside of him.
“…It’s here. Penny.. please. You must.”
From the door, two yellow glowing eyes appeared. They seemed to get closer until a large black figure stepped through the door, gaining height as it entered. The shadows covering it melted away, yet everything seemed much darker when it entered. It was a man, or what resembled one. His face was almost blue from being so pale, long greasy hair was pulled back. He must have stood 7 feet tall. “I knew I’d find you, the stench of your blood was unmistakable… oh, is this her?” The voice was absolutely chilling yet cheerful. The terrifying man turned his gaze to Penny, pinning her with it. “No… not her. Where is she? Where is Isca?”
Deaarka let out a low growl as his canine back arched. He moved in front of Penny defensively. He was in far better condition as a wolf, his injuries were present but they did not bother him as much. Blood still trickled from his mouth.
The man frowned playfully, “You won’t tell me? That’s fine. You obviously aren’t aware of my powers, though I thought I gave you a pretty nice preview.” Suddenly, the man pulled out a sword, still stained in Deaarka’s blood from earlier. The man grinned as he ran his finger along the sword than licked said finger. “Delicious, demon blood is so delicious.”
With that, Deaarka leaped at him again, digging his fangs deep into the man’s shoulder. The man chuckled, and as if Deaarka were a mere flea, shoved him off. Deaarka hit the wall opposite of them, but was quick to recover and ran at him once more.
This time, the man fought back. He tapped the sword onto the ground, black liquid pooled around him. The substance bubbled and grew, until large black vines rose from the puddle and shot at Penny.
Deaarka let out a howl as he jumped in front of Penny in time, the vines stabbing into his side. He could feel the vines moving deeper into him, trying to push through his flesh. He turned to Penny, his voice ragged and unhuman. “Penny, RUN. Tell Borris… protect Isca. This is our duty!”

Penny stood motionless, frozen in both mortal terror and shock. Whatever was standing before them... he...it... had powers like she had never seen before. Her heart pounded dangerously in her chest, causing her to feel dizzy for a moment. Her eyes slowly landed on Deaarka, and as the vines penetrated his flesh, she let out a terrified shriek. "DEAARKA NO!"
"You're everything..."
The words rang through her mind. This wasn't happening... Not to Deaarka. Sure, he was once a bloodlusting lunatic... but she had never given up on him. She stayed by his side no matter the cost, teaching him what it meant to be part of the pack. And that was why she couldn't leave him now...
Her heart beat strongly in her chest, and with it, she could hear the breath of the beast within, fighting to lend its power to Penny through force. Shear fear triggered her actions. Not fear of being harmed, but fear of losing that which she cared so deeply about... She lunged forward, having only enough time to transform her hands into massive, clawed, monstrous paw-like digits. She slashed forward at the vines in attempt to free Deaarka from them. The anger in her eyes burned like the beating of her heart.
Now wasn't the time for talk, but for action. She was sure Deaarka wouldn't like her decision... but Isca had told them to fight together, and she wasn't about to leave Deaarka to die.
-------------
Isca's beastly paws carried her faster than she had ever run before. She was started when she burst from the treeline, falling into the vacant dirt path before her. She quickly recovered herself, standing to her feet quickly. Boris' house was still quite a distance from her... and she wasn't exactly sure where Robert was. She growled, then closed her eyes and lifted her maw into the air, letting out a long, piercing howl.
---
The howl quickly awakened Robert from her star gazing, catching her attention emmediately. She recognized the howl, but not the urgency which sounded from it. Isca was calling them... for what, she did not know. But what ever it was, she was ready, she was sure of it. She had been training for so long...
But first, she needed to go. She leapt down from the low tree branch she had been sitting on, and ran off in Isca's direction as fast as her tiny feet could carry her.
(sorry the post is crap, I'm LITERALLY falling asleep while posting this XD )

Isca’s howl was unmistakable as it rang through the night air. Boris, who has been patrolling the city’s gates, turned his face to the sky. He knew right away who it was, and cursed himself for being right about the ill feelings that had been bugging him for the past few days. He did the first thing he could think of, he made his way to the Dubois home.
Boris brought his fist down heavily on the door of the Dubois family. “Amai! Mugi!” he hammered a few more times, the demon inside of him grew restless. He wanted to make sure they were okay before leaving, but at the same time he felt himself being pulled into the forest, near the howling. “Please, it’s Boris. Answer!”

creeeeeeaaaaakkk.
The door opened slowly. A tired eyed, worried widow stood in its frame, her eyes still blinking akwardly to adjust. "Wha- Oh. Boris?" She took a deep breath. "What's wrong?" She asked, examining his worried expression.
Behind her, a worried Miguel rushed into the room, weapons already in hand. "I just faintly heard a howl. Is it Isca?" He stepped up behind his mother, his eyes landing on the man in the door way. "Boris? What happened? Where is Isca?"
Amai frowned, turning around to look at her son. "Mugi calm down... I'm sure its not-" Then it dawned on her. It was late... what was Boris doing here so late? Why was he acting so frantic? She quickly slapped a hand over her mouth to silence her gasp, uncovering it only to speak again. "Did something happen to Isca?! Where is my daughter?!"

Boris sighed, trying to appear more calm, but he had already startled the family. “Now, I am sure it’s nothing, please stay calm. I just wanted to make sure you two were alright. I’ve been getting this... off feeling lately.” The mountain of a man turned his face away from the family, out to the woods that lined the village. “I am going to go investigate. I want you two to stay here. Please.” He turned his gaze to Mugi, “Mugi, that especially means you.” Boris had gotten to know Mugi’s personality well, which meant he also knew Mugi wouldn’t listen to a thing he said to him.
“Just stay inside, do not open the door to anyone that is unfamiliar.” With that, Boris quickly turned and left, on his way towards the origin of the howl.
-
Deaarka growled as Penny leaped forward, he cursed himself but at the same time was overwhelmed with gratitude; he didn’t know how to feel. It didn’t take him long to remember the vines still digging into him, but instead of stab straight through him, they simply pushed his entire body against the wall and pinned him. He hit it with enough force to knock him unconscious.
-
The tall man’s eyes widened and his smile grew to an inhuman size. “You want to play with me? Hahahahaha~” Before Penny could even touch him, the man melted into a puddle of black sludge, reforming and reappearing behind her. He grasped her wrist and pulled her close to him as he buried his face in her hair. He inhaled.
“Ahh~ what a fair maiden. You’re so lovely… “
--
Deaarka. Wake up. ..What is it? …Who is it? It’s me. …Oh. You. Where am I? Where’s Penny?? She’s fighting him. Fuck… what is he? I do not know. Deaarka, listen to me. Your human body is damaged, perhaps beyond repair. Your soul’s detached from it now. It’s dead. …W-what? Dead? What do you mean?? Once your powers are drained and you turn back to your human form, you will be dead. …heh. Just like that, eh? …Unless.. ..What? Unless what? Because our souls are bonded together, I will die if you die. That is the last thing I want, so I am going to help you. Well, spill it! Hurry! Such insolence… I can heal your human body and connect your soul to it again, but it will take some time. …How much time? I do not know. This… creature, he is draining my powers, and with it my very essence. He can devour us; I never believed it possible, yet— Shut up and hurry it up. --Ugh.. I will lend you the remainder of my powers, so long as you don’t do anything stupid, you will live. There is not much of my powers left, though. So you will have to deal with whatever you end up becoming. What if I end up…. Ah, fuck it. Fine, but what should I do? Well, obviously you aren’t doing a good job trying to kill him. You need to get Penny and yourself away from him. Stall him, get yourselves out, and meet with the pack. My powers can get you that far. Alright, sounds like a plan. …But wait, how long will it take to heal my body? I do not know. Weeks, months….years? YEARS? Better than being dead. …True. But if we kill this—thing— --Then my full powers will return. He’s drained so much of them, but if I get them back I will be able to heal you much quicker. Right! Deal!
-
Deaarka gasped loudly, his canine lungs letting out a growl and a bark as life poured back into him. He felt his head being to pound as his heart thrashed inside his chest. He grew in size, his wolf form the size of a large bear. He let out a low howl, which seemed to distract the man for a moment.
He turned to Deaarka, eyes lighting up, “Oh, how excellent. Is this your full potential?” the man took a step forward, ignoring Penny for the moment. Deaarka leaped at him and with one fell snap, closed his jaws over the man’s neck. The man fell to the floor, motionless.
Penny, we don’t have much time. We have to leave. Deaarka noticed he could not physically speak, though somehow he was still able to communicate with Penny.
He could already feel his powers diminishing just being around the man. Though it would be impossible for a human to live after snapping their neck like that, he has a feeling that the man would soon recover.
Get on

Miguel gripped his fingers over the silver daggers in his hands, his knuckles white. A bold presence invaded his expression.
"Mugi... no." A worried mother calmly expressed her plea.
"Mom, I promised... I promised to take care of my sister, no matter what happens. Her life is worth more than mine... she's a guardian. I have to protect her."
Amai glanced away from her son. She still wanted to cling to him. He was her baby boy... When did he grow up? She felt like it was just a few days ago when she had been swinging him through the air, now he was talking about life and death... like it was all just part of the job description.
A gentle touch woke her from her memory, and she looked up to see Miguel's well trained hand on her shoulder. "This is bigger than all of us. Kind of scary... but..." A small smile crept into his expression. "This is who I am."
A sad smile snuck its way onto Amai's face. "You are your father's son... you really are just like him. I'm...We... couldn't be more proud."
Miguel smiled and lowered his hand. "Don't worry, mom. I'm sure everything will be ok. It might not even be anything serious."
His words seemed to calm the mother down, and Miguel took a step out of the door, sighing heavily. "But mom..." He looked back, a nervous look on his face. He took a deep breath and shook off his fear. "Love ya mom. I'll be back in a little bit."
Then he turned and hurried off after Boris. ----
Penny gasped loudly as the man grabbed a hold of her, and she struggled against his grasp. The longer he held her, the weaker she felt. Slowly, she felt the breath leaving her body, as if there was no air in the room. She gasped for air, but her lips continued to turn blue, lack of oxygen slowly suffocating her, and she was too weak to fight it...
Her ears twitched at the low howl... umistakably Deaarka. She turned her eyes towards him, a faint smile tracing her lips. He was still alive... maybe they still have a chance...
Her body hit the floor as the man turned his attention to Deaarka. Instantly, she felt the air return to her, slowly, her strength returning as well. She pushed herself off of the floor and stood amazed at the beast infront of her. It was unlike anything she had ever seen before... was this their final form? What power... what size... She found herself marveling at Deaarka, her eyes captivated by his courage and power.
Then his words flooded into her mind, almost as if she could read him. She quickly regained her posture, and leapt into action. Without thinking twice, she ran at him, throwing her leg over his back. She clung to his blood matted fur, but patted down softly on his shoulder. "Dea... you magnificent freak. Lets get the fuck out of here."
----
Robert's skinny legs carried her quickly through the city. She ignored the odd glances from people who were taking their midnight stroles and sprinted towards her target. Her hat flapped in the wind, tempted to fall from her head, but clinging tightly to her tangled hair.
An excited grin popped from her cheeks. Deep within her soul, she could feel the beast's excitement intensify as well. With each deep breath, with each new step, she could feel the hunger for a fight grow. Only did it quiet itself when she came face to face with her leader.
"Isca!" She called from a distance when she noticed the green haired girl. Slowing, she finally came to a stop just before crashing into Isca. "You called?" Her excited grin faded slowly as she read Isca's terrified expression. She could spot the tears welling up in the corner of her eyes.
Isca tried her best to take things calmly. As leader, she needed to find the strength within herself. But with her new friends and Aunt in trouble, it was hard to keep a calm face.
"Penny and Deaarka are in trouble... They need us. Where is Boris?"

Deaarka lowered himself before pushing off the ground and bursting through the door completely, over the mysterious man’s would-be corpse and into the blackness of the forest. He had never felt such power course through his veins. His vision was overwhelmed by night around him. He could smell Isca near, and bolted towards that trail he could follow.
Slowly, he felt each sensation that had been so powerful slowly start to diminish. He knew the demon could only give him that form for so long with his injuries. Despite this, he dashed through the forest, feet hardly touching the ground.
--
“I am here,” Boris interjected, pushing through the thick brush of the forest and to Isca and Robert. His eyes widened as he saw Isca and quickly knelt beside her, a heavy hand on her shoulder. “Child! Are you alright?” He paused when she said Penny and Deaarka were in danger. He swallowed the lump in his throat and stood up. “..Where were they? The house?” His concern grew as he felt something fast approach. His senses flared, the energy charging at them overwhelming. He quickly stood in front of Isca and Robert protectively, facing whatever it was that was nearing them.
Boris gasped loudly as a wolf burst from the shadows and crashed against him. “Deaarka! Damnit!” he cried as he fell over onto his back. He recognized the black wolf from anywhere, though he was a bit larger than usual.
He looked to Deaarka, who was seemingly now unconscious. The power he had sensed before had disappeared, and the massive wolf was now average sized. “…Deaarka? Stop messing around…” his eyes scanned over him, then widened at the injuries. “Penny…! What.. what happened!?”
