Penny looked at Deaarka. This is what she had been working for, to find the last member of their pack. And even more so, at such a young age Isca had already proven to be much stronger than she was when she was her age. She wiped away the hair from her face. By now, her beauty was tainted by blood, and yet still, she seemed so innocent and sweet. It was no wonder Miguel had decided to trust her. She was the kind of person who just made you feel a whole lot better, just be being around her.
Her lips parted into a brilliant smile as she looked at Deaarka, her long time friend. "Deaarka, now that we've found her, we'll be spending a lot more time together, all of us." She looked over at Isca, a calming feeling passing over her. "And to think that this young one will be the one to lead us..." She knew it was true. None of the others were fit for the job. Isca was their last hope as their leader.
Miguel looked at Penny with a very confused look. He still felt plenty of pain, but he knew that with the nurse looking after them, they would be fine. "Lead?" He asked her, concern in his voice.
Penny nodded. "As you know... a pack needs a leader. Usually, it is the strongest. But it is also the wisest. Just by being here before us, Isca had proven to be strong. After a bit of training, and some tests-"
"Then what?!" Miguel suddenly became enraged. "You make her your leader, then force her to fight?! No way! I've risked my life to protect her, to give her a normal life! Teach her to fully control the thing, then leave her alone! She doesn't deserve this!"
Penny glanced down, her golden eyes sparkling with a sad song. "I really can't understand what you and your sister must be going through... I have known about this creature inside of me since I can remember. My half brother... he had it too. My mother knew the suffering I went through everyday, and she didn't want my brother to go through the same thing. She put him up for adoption... I never even got to see what he looked like."
She took a deep breath. "I suppose things were half way normal for him... Last I heard, his will was so strong that he never lost control over the beast. However... seeing as how your sister is here, with that moon marking... it must mean that my half brother is dead." She frowned only slightly. "I wish I could have known what it was like to like a normal life, but that isn't our destiny. Without my half brother as leader, we became chaotic and out of control... We tried our best to fit in, but... there is only so much we can do. I was lucky to be a nurse... I was hoping to become doctor some day... but... well I suppose it just wasn't meant to be."
Penny looked up towards the sky. The sun was bright. She guessed it was midday by now. "My half brother... I never knew him, but I always felt attached to him. I heard that he was working with the government to find the rest of us. I'm... I'm glad he failed..." Though Miguel knew what trouble the government could pose to the pack, he knew she must have felt terrible that she never even got to meet her brother.
(meh, crappy post. I got a few things I wanna get out about Penny before Isca wakes up lol )

(Don’t worry about it, it’s cool c:)
Deaarka nodded, he was happy to finally be able to have a leader for their pack; however he knew that both he and Penny would have to work hard to protect her identity as a member of the pack from the city. He walked up to Penny and put a heavy hand on her shoulder. Deaarka understood how difficult Penny's life had been, and now that she knew her brother was in fact dead, he wasn't sure exactly how she would take it.
Deaarka had known her since he was first a member of the pack and treasured her friendship. Penny had been there when the pack had told Deaarka what he was, and what he could become. Penny was really one of the only people he spoke to casually, around town he was referred to as the scary mountain man, though this did not affect his business.
He knew Penny’s dream was to become a doctor, but now there was nothing there for her at the hospital. They knew her secret. Could she even stay in the city anymore? Deaarka lived on the outskirts of the city as a carpenter. His passion was carving, oddly enough. He was lucky, seclusion was part of the job, and his contact with people was so rare that he became a bit of a recluse.
The idea of being out and about, helping Isca and teaching her what they knew made him uneasy, yet at the same time he welcomed it.
Deaarka turned to Howell and slapped his back with enough force to send him stumbling forward. “Now, who the hell is this kid?”
“Just a friend.” Howell quickly murmured. He rubbed his shoulder with a scowl on his face. Deaarka raised an eyebrow, “must be a close friend if they trusted you enough with her secret. Don’t tell me, her boyfriend?” Howell’s face turned bright red. “I-it’s really not the time to be saying stuff like that! Besides,” Howell sat down on the ground across from Mugi and Isca, “she still hasn’t woken up.” His face was lined with worry, though he was truly too happy for words to explain. Deaarka shrugged lightly with a satisfied smirk.

Miguel crossed his arms across his chest. He still wasn't pleased. "Miss... I don't care about what Isca could do as your leader. I don't want her to be put in that kind of danger! Besides... well, she isn't leader material. I've known her my whole life! I think I should know!"
Penny frowned. She knew he was just sticking up for his sister, but he couldn't even begin to imagine everything. However, she decided to drop it until Isca woke up. They would explain everything, and then Isca could decide for herself. Her mind began to wander, and Miguel recognized the blank expression on her face. The look that made it obvious that you were thinking. Thinking about the ones you've loved and lost.
"I know what you must be going through... My father, he died... He died so that the govenment wouldn't kill Isca. He took her place. It was devastating, and at first, I kind of blamed Isca. But now that I'm wiser, I know it wasn't her fault. It wasn't anyone's fault. So I blamed myself for being so angry with others. Don't blame yourself. Whatever happens, happens. And you just have to fa-"
"What?" Penny suddenly interupted, her face confused, almost shocked. "Wait... why did your father die in her place?" Miguel rose a brow, not sure what to think of her question. "Well, I mean... love I guess. Other wise, they would have killed her-"
"No." Penny interupted again, gazing at Miguel with curiousity. "The government wouldn't have killed her. The government... the government is on our side." OK, now Miguel was confused. Recognizing the confused expression on his face, Penny decided to explain.
"Years ago, our people hid from the government, because yes, they would have had us killed. But before we were even born, the government realized our powers as guardians, and not as killers. The government keeps us a secret, and protects us. We still have to keep hidden from the citizens, so the government doesn't lose their trust... that was our treaty. That was the agreement. They wouldn't have wanted Isca dead if they knew she was the beast!"
Now Miguel was REALLY confused. After all, he was there. He watched the government hang his father, inplace of his sister. Because they thought he was the monster. Why else would they have killed him?
"Perhaps... I could explain." A new voice erupted from the tree line. Penny jumped to a defensive position, ready to attack the newcomer who had apparently followed them there. She was amazed at how she didn't notice the woman before, even with her heightened senses. She examined the lady, her hair was a dull blonde, and she looked...sad. Her gentle green eyes were what really stuck out to her. She dropped her guard. This woman was no threat.
"Mom?" Miguel asked, confused, but at the same time, relieved. He ran up and hugged her, and she was gentle to hug him back. "Mugi, I'm so glad that you and Isca are alright..." She looked his bandages up and down. "Well... for the most part. After I saw Howell run off, I decided to follow your blood trail myself... It took a while. I'm not the tracker that your father was."
Penny really didn't want to spoil a family reunion, but this woman claimed she had answers, and she felt like she needed a few. "What do you mean you could explain?" Amai let go of Miguel and frowned. "I know what really happened that night. I swore to your father to never tell you... but now.. well, I think it's time that you knew." Miguel frowned. "What do you mean, mom? What don't I already know?" Tired from the walk, Amai sat herself down on the rock next to her daughter, and began to cradle her in her arms.
"Mugi... your father had the animal inside of him too. Unfortunately, he could never control it himself. Because he was adopted, the government had already known what was inside of him, and they kept a close eye on him. They sedated him everytime the beast tried to take over him. After we were married, that was my job, to make sure he never became out of control. When you two were born, and Isca had the same marking, it became clear to him that there must have been others. He asked the government, but they wouldn't tell him much. They knew that it didn't matter. In their eyes, he was a failure as a guardian, because he could never control the beast himself, so they let him live his life as a normal person.
"However, Isca was born with the same marking. The government expected that she would be the same... weak, and not fit to protect the city. They demanded that she be sedated as well, but your father wouldn't allow it. The first time she became controlled by it, he ran after her. All he did was console her. She stopped the beast herself, without even knowing that it existed inside of her. However, because she had done so much damage, there was no way they could hide her from the people of the city. They would have started a rebellion... It was your father's idea to die in her place, for the people. For the city, and for Isca. He was protecting everybody."
Miguel glanced down. There was so much he didn't know... maybe finally he was getting the truth. Hearing all this didn't change much, except that any anger she had over Isca before was completely gone by now. His father died not only protecting her, but protecting the city and its government. He knew that if Isca could control the beast at such a young age, even a little, then she had what it took to lead the pack, to protect the city. It almost made him angry at his father... how could he go and do such a stupid thing? If he allowed Isca to be sedated, then they could have lived a normal life, as a family. Yet he knew his reasoning... it was all to protect the city.
He was really starting to hate the City of Fang and Claw. Now he knew why it had survived the many wars of the past. This mountain was protected by the guardians... the people who are willing to die for it, the pack of demon wolves, the tunnel guardian... All for the sake of the city. Nobody ever had a regular life here. You had to fight, or you were useless. He hated it, but more than anything, he hated wars.
Penny's eyes were wide, long after Amai had explained everything. Finally, her curiosity got the best of her, and it slipped from her lips. "You said... he was adopted?" Amai nodded. "Yes, why?"
Penny's mouth dropped open, almost as if she couldn't believe what she had heard. She cupped her hands over her mouth to hide her surprise, but it was still very obvious. After a moment, tears swelled at the corners of her eyes, and she let her hands down. It was so obvious now... their eyes. Those bright, dark blue eyes. They were the same as her mother's. The same mother who gave birth to her, and her half brother. The half brother she had lost. The half brother whose kids were now sitting directly infront of her.
Hardly able to move, she turned to Deaarka. The disbelief in her eyes were a clear sign that she needed someone to understand her. She had told Deaarka everything that she had learned about her brother... did he realize the same thing as she did? "Deaarka..." She turned her head back to Miguel, then to Isca, and finally to Amai. "Your husband..." She looked back at Miguel. "Your father... I believe... he was my brother."
((sorry, I don't think this post turned out as well as I would have wanted it to... but... meh. I'm in georgia, just got off some roller coasters, so I'm a little distracted lol. I'm surprised I posted at all! lol ))

Deaarka’s own eyes widened as Penny spoke, it couldn’t be true. “Penny…” he stepped closer to them, he didn’t know what to belelive. However, it seemed more than possible. He looked at Amai. “If that’s true, then… Isca really is who we need her to be.” He looked at Penny. Obviously more than the future of the pack went through her mind.
She was connected to Isca, and though she knew now of sure her brother was dead, she could at least have some closure. Deaarka tilted his head to the side as he examined the now conscious Isca. He had never met Penny’s brother, but Isca’s presence alone, now that she was awake and her own spirit in her body, it was obvious she had qualities he found familiar yet vague.
(sorry, crappy post as well. But it’s there!)

A soft, almost invisible smile traced itself onto her lips. It was as if she was watching a miracle unfold infront of her. Hell, it was a miracle. These two children were her nephew and niece. Even if she never got to know her brother, at least now she could get to know about him, and watch his children grow up.
Even more, this meant that Isca was the one to complete their pack. The leader they had been waiting for. It seemed so strange, considering she was so young. She wasn't the youngest in the pack, but she was younger than herself and the men in the pack. It would be even harder for them to except her, she assumed. However, such a miracle had been proven in her already.
Miguel stood up and pretended to brush the dirt from his pants, ignoring the slight sting of his wounds. "If that is the case, then there is no way I can't trust you." He spoke to the pink haired nurs- his aunt. Amai frowned. "You don't plan on going anywhere? You are too hurt-"
"Mom." Miguel interupted, his cheeks slightly pink from embarassment. "I sort of made a promise. I've got some place to be. I promise I wont allow myself to be injured any further than I already am."
Amai frowned. It had been so hard to believe that her young Mugi would ever grow up, and yet he had proven himself to be a man so many times before. He was the very reflection of his father. She could never be more proud of him than he already was. She wasn't ready to let him go, but she knew it was time to. He had to figure out his own path. He had to do what he knew was right.
"Alright Mugi.. Just... stay out of trouble. And be back by dinner time?" Miguel smiled and nodded. "Of course mom. I'll be back before then." And without saying another word, he turned and faced the world infront of him, limping out into the forest. It was enough to make a mother cry.
"She's awake." Penny suddenly notified the remaining people in the clearing. Amai turned her attention emmediately to her injured daughter, whose eyes were cautiously fluttering open.
"Mom? What...I'm sorry." Amai took her daughter in her arms and craddled her cautiously. "It's ok sweety. It isn't your fault... This is your aunt...Um.." "Penny." Replied the pink haired woman, almost caught off guard by being called an aunt so soon. "This is my dear friend, Deaarka."
Isca's eyes caught a glance at their foreheads, and she had to do a double take to make sure that they were real. "You both have the same markings..." Penny nodded, a smile lighting up her cheek bones. "You are not alone Isca. We will explain everything to you when you are ready." Isca then caught a glimpse of the others standing around, and her eyes landed heavily on Howell. Almost emmediately, she had to look away.
"Please don't forgive me for such an act... I... I hate myself for what I've done to you... to your family..."

Deaarka’s bright smile truly showed when Isca awoke; it was a relief as well as a bit of an important moment. Isca really was their future leader now, and to think, mere minutes ago he was going to take her life.
At the mention of his name, Deaarka bowed his head in a nod, “My apologies.” He murmured, obviously referring to their first ‘meeting’, and let his body rest against one of the larger stones. He tilted his head to the side and watched Penny’s own reaction. She could have been a great mother if she wanted, though it was funny seeing her being called an aunt. In fact, it was near surreal.
The man scratched the back of his neck, he was worried about Mugi leaving, just as much as his mother, but he seemed to be able to take care of himself. Though, in the future Deaarka knew he would be spending a lot of time with them both, and he would probably be a bit more protective.
When Isca addressed Howell, he seemed to snap out of whatever state he was in. He was just thankful to see her conscious and moving; it wasn’t until she really spoke that the negative feelings started to creep in again.
He wasn’t sure how many times in his head he had said he had forgiven her, but it wasn’t until now that they shared eye contact (if only for a fleeting moment). Had he forgiven her? He did not hold her responsible, but that in itself was almost completely different. When he thought to that crisp night, and the massive body of that demon wolf, now he could only address it as ‘Isca’ or ‘The Demon inside Isca’. He felt jarred at this, and looked away as well.
No. He did forgive her. But he knew there were no words to comfort her and convince her.
He didn’t want to admit it, but it was because of him she felt so terrible, the way he had turned away from her. And now he only reminded her of what terrible power the beast within her could do, and what effects it had.
She was safe now, with people that could help her. There would be no more secrets, and though she seemed to have a dangerous future, it was one that she would not be alone in doing.
Howell’s lips parted, but it was a long moment before he spoke. “I just… wanted to make sure you were okay.” Was that it? He could even feel Deaarka’s gaze burning at his back. He balled his hands into fists, not knowing how else to contain his emotions, “but you should be safe now. I’ll leave you alone.”
Those were the last words he wanted to say. How about finally confessing, ‘I love you’ ‘you complete me’ she was really making him insane, just thinking about it. He tried to fake a smile; it looked like his face would shatter. She had told him she loved him, but was it just something ‘in the moment’? It really took her to admit it that he realized his own emotions. He wanted to embrace her, kiss her, never let go, protect her… but he couldn’t do that.
He opened his mouth again to say something else, but his words would have fallen flat, so he shut his mouth. He turned slowly, glancing at Deaarka as he did. The man looked very unimpressed, even angry. But he didn’t understand. It really was better this way.
…And he had totally forgotten about his aunt, who was probably dead of a heart attack at his house.

Howell's words stung a little. She knew that what had happened would be hard to forgive and impossible to forget. She expected Howell to leave, to never talk to her again, to go off and find a new life seperate from her own. She even thought he might hate her, just like his aunt had.
But she had hoped, secretly, that he wouldn't. She hoped that he would look her in the eyes and tell her that it wasn't her fault, tell her to shut up and stop being so emo for once. Maybe even tell her that every thing was going to be just fine and he would be with her every step of the way, because for some reason, she felt broken without him.
But the words he spoke were suddenly so empty. Hollow. She wasn't sure what he was holding back, but it frightened her. Maybe it was the fact that she always jumped to conclusions and was a bit on the pessimistic side, but she suddenly felt un-fixable.
What did these feelings matter to her anyway? They were just teenagers after all. Too old to act childish, too young to act like an adult. Too old to get out of chores, but too young for love. No wonder teens always rebelled. Nothing ever goes right for them.
But what Isca had felt didn't feel immature. She was sure of her feelings. She was sure that she loved Howell. She stood up and shook her head, tears whelling up in her damaged eyes. She wanted to chase after him, beg him not to leave. She needed him.
The moment she took a step, her knees gave in and buckled beneath her, and she collapsed onto the hard forest floor. Amai and Penny both jumped at her, trying to help, but she pushed them away.
She felt so confused. Everything just wasn't right. Something was most definately wrong. It didn't feel real. The pain was unbearable, and her heart was broken, and yet at the same time, she felt numb. Limp. Useless.
"Isca, please don't move too much! Your injuries are terrible!" Her mother pleaded. Penny rechecked her bandages. None of her wounds had reopened. Infact, they seemed to be healing alarmingly fast.
Isca looked up into her mother's dull eyes. It this what it felt like? To feel like the one you love is gone? After her father's death, Amai had changed. Before, she had such an uplifting personality. Her eyes sparkled, and no one could match her smile. Now, she was dead inside. Isca felt the same way.
But something in the very back of her mind felt like she needed to get over it. There was something more important at the moment, and it was something to do with the two standing infront of her with the markings so incredibly similar to her own.
"You guys... I'm confused." Penny nodded. "We have a lot of explaining to do." Her ears twitched, and she froze in place, like a wolf listening intently for its prey.
A light smile pasted itself across her ruby lips. "Deaarka, we wont have to explain by ourselves. The rest of the pack are here."
((can you make another dude for the pack? XD Like... an older guy? Like in his 30s or 40s? Lol old dude. Awesome. I already have the other in mind. ^^ ))

“So, this is her then?” A powerful voice boomed through the trees, but the voice didn’t come close to the powerful man that immerged. He was a giant, muscular, built like a tree. His dark hair and beard had strands of silver, showing his age. However, the thin lines on his face showed age and experience past his mere 45 years of living. His eyes were a dull blue, and bandages that covered some parts of his face hid the crescent moon on his forehead. As he walked closer, he revealed it along with various scars. He wore combat clothing; he looked like a location guard for the village. As he spoke, his voice became much more soft, almost gentle.
“We have been waiting a long time for you.” He bowed his head respectably, “My name is Boris. You will be safe with us.” With a light smile, he turned to Penny and Deaarka. “I trust the others will be here in moments. We are sorry to keep you waiting, but you know how it is. There is quite a stir in the village right now.”
He nodded to Amai, and stepped aside.
“Boris, what’s this about me never being punctual?” Deaarka laughed, he continued to do so until Boris shot him a glare of ice and annoyance. Deaarka’s laugh slowly died out, the one man that wouldn’t stand for his antics.
--
Howell finally made it to his house, each footstep he took was another he regretted. He closed his eyes and his hand pushed against the oak door, holding his breath as he entered. This time, the squeak was louder than usual.
“HOWELL!” The frantic footsteps rushing downstairs belonged to an even more frantic woman. She flung her arms around him, almost causing him to tumble over. “I’m fine! I’m…” his voice trailed off, and she pulled away, examining his face. “Where were you?! I’ve been worried sick! Sick!” She looked enraged now, but Howell’s expression kept her from losing it. She hadn’t seen him so forlorn since his family’s passing. He wandered to his room, and this time, she didn’t badger him.
Howell sat on his bed, starring blankly at the wall. He didn’t want to believe his adventure was over, that he should just give up on Isca. He sighed as he threw off his shirt, covered in blood and other things, and rummaged for another.
As he bent down to check his other drawer, his back stung ever so lightly. The long, thick scars on his back never really hurt him, though every once in awhile he would remember, maybe because of a dream or seeing or even smelling something, and then they would sting again.
He turned to the mirror, back faced to it and neck craned so he could see it. It had long ago healed over. His eyes traveled over the scar more than once, but every time he looked at it, all he could see was a large scar made by an animal. Not a human.
He turned away and threw on a black t-shirt. It wasn’t Isca’s fault, and it never would be. She told him not to forgive her, but he would have to betray her wishes.

She stumbled into the clearing rather than walk into it, a bad habit she seemed to have aquired when becoming exciting. Her large, brown sparkled with youth. Thin, almost bleach blonde hair fell into her eyes and were tied back into a sloppy pair of pigtails. Her own crescent marking was hidden by a fox-styled aviator hat, which was just a little too big for her head. She was wearing a plain black hoodie which was obviously much to large for her, and short, pink polka dot shorts. She wore no shoes on her feet, but that didn't seem to bother her too much.
What really stuck out to Isca was her age. She was only a child, no older than eight years old. Was this child one of them? One of the demons?
Before she realized it, the girl was staring up at Isca with wide, fascinated eyes and a bright smile. "We were waiting for you for a long time!" The girl spoke, her voice sounding just a little younger than she appeared. Isca wondered what kind of schooling she had, if any. More than anything, she was taken in by her pure cuteness and innocence.
"My name is Robert!" The girl smiled. "Well, really it's Sophia Robert Aster. But everyone calls me Robert." Isca gave the girl a sideways glance. "Why not Sophia?" She asked. The young girl crossed her arms across her chest, the sleeves of her hoodie completely consuming her hands. "I wouldn't be much unique if everyone just called me by my first name!"
Penny chuckled, stepping up in between the girl and Isca. "This is it then. Everyone is here. " She glanced back at Robert and smiled. "You have grown quite a bit since I last saw you." The girl nodded. "I'm sure I have! I've been stretching every morning!" Penny chuckled again, glad to know that her blood stained clothes didn't frighten the girl anymore than they used to.
Amai stood by, watching the people fill up the clearing. It was so odd, to watch this so called "pack." The five of them looked so different from each other. Each odd and unique on their own. None of them looked like monsters. A small smiled faded onto her lips. "Isca... please trust them. They know so much more than any of us. They can help you."
Isca looked down at the dirt beneath her feet. It felt odd... meeting thes strangers. And she was supposed to lead them? No adult ever took her seriously before. How would that change now? She was sure even the child knew how to control he powers better than she could. Even worse than that, she still considered herself as a monster. She hurt the ones she loved. She didn't want a second chance. She didn't want to lead anyone. She just wanted to go home and sleep. Though it was obvious that the option was far from possible.

“Hey, squirt!” Deaarka walked over to Robert and patted her head, knowing quite well ruining her hair would not be a good idea. He gave a toothy grin, “It’s been too long.” “Now, I suppose you have questions for us?” Boris asked Isca, he was trying hard not to seem too intimidating, though it was difficult with his height. Yet another female in the pack. It didn’t bother him, though he wished someone would just take Deaarka’s place all together.
“Maybe we should get her home first? She looks exhausted. Besides, it’s a bit more intimate than the middle of the forest.” Deaarka’s eyes quickly flashed over to Amai, “—If that is alright, of course.” He could feel Boris’ scowl, he hated being undermined, but would not speak out of place.

Penny shook her head at Deaarka. "Too close to... people. We can't risking anyone finding out about us. Besides, that damn doctor may try to find her home. Any explaining needs to be done here." Robert folded her arms and nodded excitedly. "Isn't this the place where the rest of us found out? Its kinda like our own little secret hideout! We really should come here more often!"
Penny smiled sweetly at the little girl. "Well... if Isca is who we were looking for, then we probably will be here a lot more." She looked up at the others. "Isca needs a complete understanding. Right now, she almost knows nothing." Isca looked around at the others and bit her lip. She glanced back at her mother, who smiled gently back at her. "Sweety, you have to trust them. They know the truth. This... this is your second family now. They are your brothers and sisters."
Isca knew that what her mother was telling her was right, but it didn't make her any less afraid. "Isca!" Robert strut up to her. "Isca, don't be afraid! We know you're good, and the animal within you will protect the city. That's what they told me when I first found out...I was scared, because I thought I might turn evil and hurt somebody, but they wouldn't let that happen to me. And we wont let that happen to you!"
Isca glanced down at the little girl, then to the others. It seemed so unbelievable... frightening even.... to know that they believed she was supposed to be leader. "I don't want to disapoint you guys... but I'm not the best leader. I... I've never even led a science project." Penny layed her hand on her shoulder. "Isca, if you are who you are, which you are without a doubt, then you will not disapoint us. We have faith in you. Try to have faith in us too."
-----
knock, knock. Miguel's hand tapped against the wooden door. He had just enough time to run home and get cleaned up quickly. He put on a long sleeved white button down shirt and black pants to hide the bandages on his body, and he held two curved swords at his side. He knew he wouldnt be going home for a while, so he took quite a few things out of the house and hid them in the woods. Almost emmediately after he walked out the broken front door, there were rangers, searching the house.
He almost decided not to show up at Brigid's house, but a promise was a promise. The medicines seemed to be kicking in, because his pain wasn't nearly as great as it was. Still, he knew he had to be careful. He didn't want to reopen any of his wounds, or injure any internal organs. He took a deep breath and sighed. A promise was a promise. He would be careful to make those in the future.

Slowly, the grand oak doors to Brigid’s estate swung open, the girl responsible for it wore a scowl. “There you are! I was beginning to think you wouldn’t come.” She sounded impatient, but there was an air of anticipation in her voice. Her brilliant eyes scanned Mugi, and the discomfort on his face.
“Are you okay? You look like hell.” Even if he was going to help her improve her fighting skills, she would have to act as rude as she could. He was Isca’s brother after all, and that meant they were enemies.
--
Deaarka chuckled lightly, it made sense now that he thought about it, having them all in a small area would not be a good idea, especially if they were to be discovered. “Don’t be discouraged, Isca. It’s not supposed to be easy. That’s why we are here, to guide you until you can take complete charge.”
Boris nodded as he walked up to her, almost dwarfing her completely with his height as they stood side by side. “Yes! Just have faith in us, and in return we will help you become what you were destined to be; our leader.”
His attention turned to Penny, who knew better than any what Isca would need to do. “Your aunt and… he,” a shrug to Deaarka, “will be watching over you closer than I. I have other duties in the village, however that doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing a lot of each other.”
Ooc: I’m realllly soory of this doesn’t make sense. I’m still on a bunch of painkillers. I tried really hard ;~; and I know I should have posted sooner, I won't let it happen again. This has just been.... the worst past month (well, months I guess)

Miguel shot Brigid a hollow smirk, crossing his arms. "I look like hell? You should check yourself in the mirror sometime. I mean really, I didn't think zits could get that large." He taunted jokingly. "Now shut the hell up and take this." He held out the sword to her. "My sister is going to be away for a while now, so its time I had someone else to beat."
Miguel used a soft tone while he talked, taunting Brigid. He had seen how Brigid worked sometimes, and he thought it best to bully her into training. Usually, if someone told her she couldn't do something, she would try her best to actually do it. Reverse Psychology. It never failed.
----
Isca nodded nervously. She still wasn't sure if this was the best thing for her... but her father's words resounded in her mind. He died to protect her. She couldn't let him down. Worridly, she looked up to the others.
"What about this place? If I'm a wanted person now, wont rangers come looking out here?"
Penny crossed her arms across her blood stained nurse's coat, shaking her head. "Like I said... we have friends in the government. This place... anywhere you see the marked rocks... is a wildlife preservation. Or so they tell everybody. This was a place sealed off just for us.
Robert jumped around hyperly, tugging on Isca's shirt. "Didn't anyone ever tell you the story of the dangerous animals in these woods? That's why no one comes out here! Even rangers aren't allowed out this way. The only thing is, now instead of feeling scared to be attacked by the animals, you realize that we are the animals!" She laughed, feeling a bit ironic.
Isca glanced around. The markings on the rocks... .they seemed so familiar to her, though she couldn't place it. So this was the wildlife preserve. And the wild animals being protected here... were really this pack of possessed humans? It was odd, now that she thought of it... but it made sense. It was a place they could go and train and live without being hunted.
"But we can't just live out here, I mean... where will I sleep?"
Penny glanced at Deaarka and smiled. "Actually... there is a small house built out here. Nobody has living in it for years, but it will work. Just needs a bit cleaning up." Isca's mother frowned. "But how will I know she will be safe?" Penny shrugged. "Well... actually, I'm a wanted person now too. There is no way I can return to the hospital. I'll be staying here too. Don't worry... I'll take care of her."
"And you and Mugi will be fine at home... its not you that they want." Isca frowned. "But they can't just go back, can they? I mean.... wont they be questioned? I don't want them to be tortured!" Penny nodded. "I understand, but they will be fine. Isca... the wounds on your body. They are the wounds of a badger.... a large badger. The mountain guardian to be exact. Amai, if you were to tell of the fight, you could tell them that the mountain guardian carried her away. With all the evidence in and around your house, they will be sure to believe it."
Isca looked long and hard at her mother. Amai put her hand on her daughter's shoulder, and pulled her in for a long hug. "Sweet heart... this has to happen... to keep you safe, but also to help you. They are the only ones who can help you now. Mugi is so grown up now, he can basically take care of himself... and you are a strong young woman. Its about time I let my nestlings fly. I promise you that everything will be alright."
Isca hugged her mother tightly, feeling as if this may be the last time they saw each other, atleast for a long time. She opened her mouth to say something, but a muffled whimper was all that escaped. "I know sweety..." Amai whispered. "Take care." She pryed away from Isca, and turned to Penny. "I pray that I can trust you... I have a feeling that Isca will finally be able to grow up with you around." She bit her lip. "I... I should get back and give my story to the rangers. I'll send Miguel here later to let you know that everything is OK. Please... take care."
Penny nodded, patting Isca on the shoulder while watching her sister-in-law walk away. "It'll be just fine Isca... I can take care of you." Isca shook her head. "Its not me I'm worried about... who will take care of her? Mugi is becoming increasingly busy lately. I'm out here... she has no one." Penny gave Isca a sad smiled, rubbing her shoulders. "As long as you are here, and Miguel is still here, she will be just fine. It isn't like you are living on opposite sides of Camauren! She'll be fine."
Isca wiped a stray tear from her eye and turned to look at the rest of her new "family." "Thank you... all of you. I just hope... that I can be the person you need me to be. I just hope... I wont be letting you all down..."
(OMG poor post sorry about that XD Falling asleep here, but I knew it needed to get done XD ))

Brigid glared at him, but didn’t care to reply to his rude comment, only throw her long, auburn hair over her shoulder. “Well, let’s get this over with then, shall we?” With a snobby shrug and her nose held up high, she pushed past him and made her way to the training grounds.
--
Deaarka stood awkwardly as he watched Isca and Amai’s sad goodbye. He was terrible at farewells, and even worse at watching them. He waited until Amai had left before moving in, ruffling Isca’s hair and ignoring the glare Boris was drilling into him. “You’ll be fine, you’ve already proven yourself more than capable. …As for everything else,” he turned to Boris “you will be keeping an eye on the Dubois family as well, I trust. You are a location guard, after all. It should be easy to keep close to them.”
Boris nodded, eyes softening as they fell upon Isca. “Yes, though your brother has proven himself to be a true protector, I will make sure that no harm comes to your family. I give you my word, and I never break m—“
“ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, Boris. We don’t need your life story, just a confirmation, geez.” Deaarka chuckled, but yelped as Boris hit him upside the head. “..hmph… anyways, I guess we should take you to your new home, right?” Deaarka shot an olive-green glance to Penny. “My cabin is on the outskirts of the town, no one will miss me… would you like me to stay as well? With you two, I mean. I could be an extra set of eyes, you know my hearing is the best out of everyone’s here.”

Penny looked long and hard at Deaarka, an almost unnoticable smile bringing up the corners of her lips. "Deaarka... I-"
"Aww!" Robert cheered, a bit too enthusiastically. "Dea-Dea has gone soft on us!" She chuckled innocently. "Our little tough guy is all grown up!" Penny shot her a glare, and she was quick to silence her, though her smile didn't fade a bit. Penny's cheeks were flushed, and she snorted softly to herself.
She looked back to Deearka, trying to fake an encouraging smile. Instead, she looked almost sick, and Robert chuckled very lightly under her breath. "Thank you so much for asking, but we'll be just fine. Besides, Isca is just getting to know us... lets give her time to get used to all this."
She put her hand lightly on his arm in a thankful manner. "We could do with a visit from time to time though... your presence is surely encouraging. And you can bring us news and supplies from inside the city. With all the rangers that will surely be poking around, it will be good to have you guys on the inside."
Isca stepped up. "Um..." Her voice cracked, displeasure still new on her face. "I... I know it'll take me some time to get used to this. But... if you all could visit often, I know it will help.... help me to figure all this out....who I really am. I still don't believe I can do this... but if you guys can..."
Robert ran and gave Isca a heart warming hug. A reasurring peace seemed to suddenly fall over her. "Are you kidding me?!" The girl spoke excitedly. "You're like... the sister I never had! I'm going to see you like every day!" Isca gave a tear filled chuckle and hugged the little girl back. "Thank you...really." She looked up at the others. "Thank you."
"I have... just one more request." She then turned to Boris. "Could you... occasionally give my mother company, on top of keeping an eye on her and my brother? She occasionally gets frightened... I... I'm pretty sure I can trust you all. If I can really trust you, could you do that, for me? Just, let her know that everything is going just fine. Please..."

((ooc: REJECTION))
Deaarka chuckled and nodded, trying to make it look like he didn’t feel a bit embarrassed by asking the question. He guessed it would be a bit inappropriate for him to stay with the two women, especially since his old house was so close. “Eh… right, right.”
Boris watched Isca as she addressed him, and nodded thoughtfully as she finished. “Of course. I will visit as often as I can, I will even train Mugi in combat, if he would like. I am sure there are many things an old man like me could teach him.” Deaarka snickered, about to comment on his age, but decided to leave him be for once.
“Alright, alright. This reunion should break for now, we have to get Isca settled at the house.” He glanced at Penny, “I suppose you too, Penny…” he frowned. It upset him that Penny had to give up her job as a nurse. She enjoyed so much helping others, it was a real shame indeed.

((Can we just jump like a month or two later? I want some action, but forgive me it has been awhile xD))
Deaarka panted and he ran as fast as his four legs could carry him. He leaped over any obstacles, eyes fixed straight in front of him. He had to hurry, he had to warn them. In his wolf form, the crescent moon on his head glowed in the pitch black of the night. As he panted from exhaustion, there was a small whine to his voice. He winced at his injuries and the pain surging through him every time he moved, but ignored it for the most part. There, just beyond the trees, was Penny and Isca’s home for the past few months.
Without turning back to his human form or even knocking, Deark threw himself at the door and crashed inside, laying on his side with a defeated grunt. As a wolf he was large, much larger than a normal canine. He preferred this to any demi-wolf form that the pack could transform into.
He spoke, but it came out in mostly barks and low howls—he almost forgot he was even in his demon form. Deaarka slowly turned back, the blood smeared over his paling skin was fresh. He closed tight his bright olive eyes in agony and groaned loudly.
“….Penny! Shit…” he called out into the darkness of the house, he was still incapacitated on the floor. He raised a hand to grasp at the deep bite laceration on his forearm, he didn’t even want to look at his leg; his pant leg was practically non existent, shredded to pieces and revealed a gaping gash that ran from his upper thigh down to below his knee.
It was late and they were probably sleeping, but Deaarka hoped—prayed that the crash was enough to wake them up. “P-Penny!”

Penny hadn't gotten a wink of sleep that night. Maybe it had something to do with the position of the moon in the sky. Or maybe it had something to do with the abnormally noisy owls that had perced outside her window. Whatever it was, she felt on edge and jumpy. Isca had noticed, but Penny was quick to dismiss her, and so Isca returned to her bed and slept. Penny kept her gaze outside, watching the wind shift the trees earily; the fog rising between the brush. She tapped her feet nervously, desperately wishing she were tired enough to sleep. Her ears caught every bit of sound... the leaves rustling in the wind, the hoo's of the restless owls, the faint sound of pitter patter as light drops of rain drizzled onto the roof, here one moment, and then gone the next, as if it were teasing her.
The night felt dense... almost terrifying. Penny had certainly never been afraid of the dark, and creepy forests were home sweet home to her. However, there was something different about tonight... and that difference slowly began to show itself as a large shadow, darting through the forest.
Penny had spotted it right away...its movements were panicky, and its shape couldn't be mistaken for anything but a wolf; and a rather large one at that. As her mind tried to fill in the blanks, she watched as it hurridly came closer and closer to her little shack, until she was sure that it was running to her. Her eyes widened, fear stabbing at her heart, and she was out of the room before she heard the sounds of crashing wood.
She slid into the room, her eyes landing emmediately on the injured wolf. "Deaarka!" She shrieked, rushing to the wolf's side. "What happened?!" She scanned his body until her eyes landed on his wounded leg, and she threw her hands over her mouth in disguist. Penny was a nurse... she had seen worse, but never before to somebody so close to her. "Oh my God! Deaarka!" Her eyes swelled with hot, steamy tears.
"What's going on?!" Sounded a voice behind them, and Penny didn't have to turn to tell that Isca had been awaken by the sound. Isca's tired eyes widened at the sight, her mouth agape, not sure what to say. "Deaarka? What happened?" She rushed to the windows, worried that something may have followed him.
Penny placed her hand on Deaarka's fuzzy, blood matted face. "What happened Dea?" She spoke softly, worridly, stroking his fur. "You're gonna be ok... Isca, grab my bag!" Isca abandoned the windows the rush into the kitchen, pulling the emergency medical bag from the cupboard above the rusty refrigerator. Penny looked at her dear friend worridly. "I promise... you are going to be ok... just tell me the whole story. What happened?"
((lol sorry, rushed and poorly written XD ))
