For a moment, Isca just stared...she didn't move, and she seemed to barely be breathing. The crescent marking on her forehead was pulsating, but atleast it was still a dorment blue. Finally aknowledging Howell, she smiled.
"I love your eyes." She said with a grin. "They're honest..." She frowned, glancing down. "So Howell... what's wrong with me? I feel weird... " Her breathing became a bit harsher again, and you could see the pain on her face, but still she kept her eyes on Howell. Her mind was a mess of confusion. With a hint of fear in her eyes, she asked him a question she had been wondering for a little while. "Am...am I going to die?"
Miguel finally came back into the room and had heard his sister's words. It made him feel terrible. He could tell she was hurting, and he hated it. He wanted to do more, but how could he? 'I really wish you were here righ now dad.' He thought to himself.
He let out a sigh and walked over to Isca. "You are not going to die Isca, I promise." He replaced the wash cloth. Isca closed her eyes and smiled. "Good." She breathed. "Howell, don't leave me, ok?" She settled down and seemed to drift away into slumber.
Miguel had been fighting what to do next for a long time. He looked at Howell. Would he be trustworthy enough to tell? It wasn't fair to him to have to sit here by Isca's side without knowing what was really going on. He had to make a descision now.
"Howell, I need to tell you the truth." He sat down in the chair, twisting the flashlight off and on in his hands out of nervousness. "Isca... She... she doesn't even know this yet, so please... don't blame her." He took a deep breath.
"A couple of years ago, I was playing with my dad and sister. Everything was perfectly normal. We were all happy... Then the beast... it came, and destroyed everything. My father wasn't the beast. He stopped the beast before things got even worse, and thats my job now today."
He closed his eyes, not believing what he was doing. He had been protecting Isca since that night, protecting her from herself. Earlier, I had to stop Isca from fighting Gulf before she got too angry... Howell, please... understand. This is not her fault. She has nothing to do with it... it's the beasts fault."
He bit his lip. "On the night of the red moon, the beast takes control... of Isca. My father... he died trying to protect her. Just as I will someday."

In a burst of rage, Howell jumped off the couch and grasped Mugi’s shirt collar. He wasn’t sure what the hell he was doing, but he was livid. “You’re lying.” His voice was hushed despite his rage, not wanting to wake the slumbering Isca. “Why would you say that? You’re her brother. Isca could never let something like that happen to her, she’s strong a-and brave and…” Howell’s grasp slowly loosened until he let go of Mugi entirely. He could feel the corners of his eyes burn as he backed away from him, but he would be damned if he cried. Now he understood. It made perfect sense, especially on that night…
Howell looked on in horror as his two young brothers lay in shreds outside of his house. Just a few metres away, Shannah had fallen unconscious by the looks of it, too much blood loss. In his attempt to save her from the wolf-like monstrosity, his own back had been clawed at, though it wouldn’t be enough to kill him. His mother had told him, just minutes before bursting out the door that she would be back, her and his father. But by the look in the Beast’s eye, it wouldn’t wait.
Howell was covered in his sibling’s blood as he had tried to stop the bleeding. He was sobbing. So much for being the older, braver brother. Shannah would never open her eyes again, and Timothy and Ralph would never giggle and be troublesome like two year olds should be.
The massive beast stood, growling between Howell and his dead sister. His entire body trembled, but was too frightened to move his limbs. Suddenly, the beast’s attention was caught by something else. Howell could only make out the shape of a man; the firelight illuminated just his outline, though Howell could see a glimpse of green hair. The beast followed the man into the blackness, and Howell collapsed.
He woke the next morning in a bed, so stiff unlike his own. He felt a surge of pain rush through his body, and as he lifted himself out of his bed, looked behind him to see a large slash of blood soaked into the sheets. It was the only injury he received that night physically, and the long, ghastly scar would remain with him for the remainder of his life.
Howell didn’t even have a moment to wonder where he was before being lead to the town’s centre. There, there was an execution. The man that was responsible for everything. Howell was surprised by the sorrow and guilt on the man’s face; usually criminals of such crimes wouldn’t look so tragic and humble. He did seem vaguely familiar... Howell followed the man’s gaze to the only family weeping. His family, he assumed. Howell could feel warm tears sting his cut up face. A young girl with green hair held in her mother’s embrace as she wailed. It only hit him then his own family was gone, and he wept.
“Mugi…” Howell finally had to accept the fact that what he had said was true. Howell’s heart felt like shattering, he tried to form words but fell short to his trembling lips. Finally, he managed to say something, though it came out as barley more than a whisper. “You are asking too much of me.” He looked at Isca, and then to her brother, then back again to her. Slowly, he glanced at Mugi one last time. “Her secret is safe. But I… I can’t stay here any longer.”
Howell turned without another look to Isca or her brother. He pushed past the door, and out into the fresh night air. He could hear his breathing become harsher and louder, and it wasn’t until he was away from any sight of houses that he collapsed to his knees and covered his mouth. He felt like he was about to empty every meal he had ever eaten.
Howell rested his elbows on the dirt, grasping at the soil in an attempt to hold something he could crush, something he could feel like hurting. Howell could hear himself sob, and it made him feel even sicker. Why was he crying for her?! He thrashed his fist into the ground, and again and again. She had destroyed everything he loved. But… it wasn’t her fault. She couldn’t help it.
Howell didn’t want to hear that. He always wanted to believe his family’s murderer had been killed. Why couldn’t he have the satisfaction of knowing? Even Isca didn’t know, but how is that possible? Had Mugi lied and Isca known all along? Was that why she kept apologizing?
The more he thought, the angrier he got. He couldn’t take it, but there was no way that he could quell the rage raising inside of him. “Damnit, damnit!” He hissed. A surge of the icy night wind blew over Howell, and he shivered. He had forgotten his father’s jacket. Great.
Howell calmed down the colder it seemed to get, though his anger still very present. ”I love your eyes, they are so honest…” Isca’s words trickled through his mind, and he tried to get the soothing voice away from him. ”Isca, I’m not going anywhere. It’s okay.” Howell sighed, doubling over once again as more tears streamed down his face.
She had taken everything from him. But now… she was everything to him.

"And so you see, Howell is staying by her side for a while tonight..." Amai explained to Howell's aunt. " I know the difficulties that have come to pass between your family and mine, but I believe that they both care very deeply about each other. I hope you aren't too concerned..."
She felt a fear in her heart, and she glanced around behind her. She didn't mind that she was standing out in the cold. She felt cold and alone since the incident. But something felt different... almost terrifying. She turned her attention back to the woman. "Please don't be harsh on him."
--------------
Mugi frowned. Why had he told Howell? He let out a long sigh. It had to be done. Howell would hav figured it out anyway, and it would have been worse if he hadn't told him.
Suddenly, a chill went down his spine. 'Mugi...' Said the voice. 'You had better get out the pendant. You may need my powers after all...' Miguel's nervous eyes turned towards Isca, and he nearly jumped back from the look she was giving him.
Her eyes were... hallow. He could tell just by looking at her that she was bruning up, and sweating up a storm. Her chest rose normally, but the sound coming from her throat was completly inhuman. His heart began pounding. Already, the crescent marking was a deep purple. He had to stop her now, before the marking turned red and she lost complete control.
"Howell..." The harsh words came out of Isca's mouth. Miguel paused for a moment. She was thinking about him again. Maybe that would bring her back. He watched and waited. "Howell..." She gasped again. "Howell... Sullivan." Miguel bit his lip. His heart began pumping faster, and Isca's next words nearly made him scream.
"Howell Sullivan. Finally, I will be able to taste that blood again!" All at once, the cresent marking shot red, glowing until the light filled up the room. "NO!" Miguel screamed, and threw himself over her, holding her down with every bit of strength he had stored.
Isca thrashed about, saliva burning from her mouth as she roared. Her teeth grew into fangs right before Miguel's eyes. She was no longer Isca, even if she still looked like her. "DAMN IT!" Miguel yelled.
'Mugi! The pendant! You've waited to long! Use it NOW!' The voice shouted inside Miguel's head, and he cringed from the headache it brought on. Quickly, he ripped the pendant from his neck. Tears in his eyes, he took his free hand and punched Isca, square in the forehead as hard as he could.
The impact immediately tore his knuckles apart, and only left a small gash in Isca's head, on the center of the glowing marking. Luckily, it was all Miguel needed. He took the pendant, and thrust it against her wound, wincing at the fact that he was doing this to his twin sister.
As Isca's head gently trickled onto the pendant, the black of the pendant emmediately transformed, glowing the same red as Isca's marking. Isca thrashed about, slashing Miguel with her newly formed claws. Miguel flinched, but focused, and kept the pendant to her forehead.
'Don't let go, Mugi. Whatever happens, it has to deplete the beast's energy completely, or it wont work.' Mugi understood, but it really hurt getting scratched with those large claws.
"Mugi..." the beast spoke up. "Mugi, why are you hurting me? It hurts Mugi! Please stop." The tears streamed down Miguel's cheeks. "You are not my sister... SO SHUT UP!" He pushed the pendant into her wound a bit more, and the beast screamed out in pain.
The beast scratched at Miguel again, hitting him in the stomach, but he didn't flinch this time. He had to finish this... even if it meant...
'Damn, this beast actually does hurt, doesn't it?' The voice said in a weak tone. 'Keep it up... I'll transfer some of my protection to you.' Miguel shook his head. "No! You can't! You could die too. Your duty is to protect this mountain!" 'Don't tell me what to do Miguel Dubois! This is my mountain, and I AM protecting it! The day you saught me out in the tunnels, I promised I would do what I could to stop the beast!' Miguel frowned. He had to focus. It wasn't just his life on the line anymore.
Suddenly, what was once Isca gained control of her legs, and kicked at Miguel with enough force to launch him off of her. The pendant was still lodged in her forehead, but the beast quickly pulled it out and threw it at Miguel.
"MUGI!" The beast roared. "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO YOUR OWN SISTER?!" Miguel backed away from her. He could feel the blood lust in her eyes. What could he do? The beast was taking over. It was too late.
'I'm coming.' Said the voice. Miguel shook his head. "You can't come out... the citizens could attack you." The voice laughed. "We'll see about that."
Something was different with the last voice. It was outside his head. He turned around, and saw it. He had saw it before, just once, but its size was still amazing. It was standing outside, its sharp whiskers lashing around wildly. "Stay back, Miguel! This is going to get bloody!" Said the large, whiskered creature.
Miguel backed away just in time. The beast lunged towards the larger creature, outside and out of his control. The sounds following it were something Miguel could never again describe. When he ran outside, there was a large puddle of blood, and somebody was lying inside of it.
"Isca!" Mugi screamed, running towards her. "No, Miguel! BACK AWAY!" Miguel jumped back, just as Isca snapped at him. She was bleeding, badly, but so was the mountain guardian. Miguel shook his head. "Don't kill her, please!" He pleaded the guardian.
The creature snorted. "Fine! But take her down some way! I can't fight her anymore..." Miguel nodded. He looked at Isca. It was a terrifying site. She still wasn't completely transformed, but she wasn't human anymore. Blood was pouring from her shoulders, arms, and face.
She lunged at him again. This time, he was prepared. He sidestepped her obvious attack, and grabbed her wrist. With the little strength he had left, he shoved her into the ground. She hit the grass with enough force to knock the wind out of her, then he pushed the pendant back into her head and consentrated.
"Yes..." The guardian breathed. "The beast's energy is coming much faster now. She'll be down in no time." Just a moment later, any signs of the beast taking over Isca's body was gone. The pendant returned to its normal black self, and Isca's forhead marking was blue once more.
"They wont suspect her." The guardian spoke up. Now that Miguel could finally see him in some sort of light, he looked sort of like some giant badger... mole thing. "She has my claw marks on her body...they will suspect another animal attack. They will suspect me... She'll be safe. I advise you to take her to the hospital... quickly."
The guardian turned, and with its massive claws, burrowed itself into the earth. Miguel quickly grabbed hold of Isca and started running. He had to get to the hospital, or Isca would die of loss of blood...
(long, but not written as well as I would have liked XD I admit it... Im lazy XD and lol 1228 words )

Harriet glared at Amai as she spoke, wringing her hands out of nervousness and stress. She grasped at her necklace, fiddling with that as Amai finally apologized and ceased talking. “Howell is my responsibility, and I would appreciate knowing where he is. I almost went to the police!” her trembling hand rested against her chest now. “…But I appreciate you telling me. However, I do not want my boy anywhere near your family. Is that under—“ she watched as Amai’s expression changed greatly and turned her attention away from her. At first she huffed in the rudeness, but as she turned back, Harriet shook her head.
“Where is Howell now? I want him home this instant. Tell him that, please.” With that said, and nothing more, Harriet closed the door behind her.
Howell, after finally managing to get a grip on himself, had began to make his way back to his home, though he was in absolutely no rush. His eyes were completely glazed and almost black, he moved with no stride or character. He was a shell, one that was dreading his punishment from his aunt, but not as much as the feeling of having walked away from Isca. But what could he have done?

It seemed like it had been forever before Miguel finally came across the large, stone building that was the hospital. Miguel scanned the perimeter. A thought came to him. He knew he was hurting, probably worse than he realized. However, he couldn't check into the hospital. They would realize that the beast was still alive... and then they would know it was Isca.
His eyes caught a young nurse standing outside the doors. She had long, cotton candy pink hair, and she was wearing a pair of thin rimmed glasses. Her eyes were golden, and she was just staring up at the red moon, lost in her own thoughts. She looked trust worthy... atleast enough to save his sister.
Clumsily, he walked up to the doors. The nurse's eyes caught the figure stumbling through the trees, and emmediate alarm rose in her expression. She went into doctor mode, and ran towards them.
Miguel quickly handed over his limp sister's body. "Please, take care of her." He said, almost completely out of breath. The nurse looked him over. "How did this happen? Never mind, come with me..."
Miguel shook his head. "Not me." He glanced down. What was going to happen to him? Now that he wasn't carrying Isca anymore, he could see the blood soaking his clothes. He was hurt, bad. Finally, he looked back up at the nurse. "Just take her. Please."
Reluctantly, the nurse nodded a silent agreement, and hurridly took off in the opposite direction, into the hospital. Miguel flinched at a growing pain in his side, and he covered it with his hand. He hated that this had happened to Isca. It was his job to protect her, and the city. However... he realized something that moment...
His sister was everything to him, and the city was nothing. If it ever came to that moment, he would quickly choose Isca over the city. It made him nervous. He knew he wasn't right for the job. Why had his father gone and done such a stupid thing?
He almost expected the voice to answer him, but the guardian had already returned to its slumber. After all, it used up too much energy. He needed to rest.
Without another thought, Miguel turned and ran off into the forest. He trudged through the fall leaves, nearly tripping over a few rocks and fallen tree limbs. He clutched his side again, it was bleeding even worse than before, and he could feel himself becoming light headed.
This was it. He was going to die. He hated himself for it. He failed. He failed in his mission to divert Brigid's attention away from Howell. He allowed Howell to know the truth, and how could anyone ever forgive such a thing? And most of all, he failed his sister, his mother, and his father. He ruined everything. He really was weak.
Miguel took another step, and the energy left his body all at once. He passed out amongst the trees, leaving nothing but a bloody trail behind him.
----
"Doctor! Doctor! We have an animal attack victim! It... its serious." The closest doctor grabbed the bloody girl from the nurse's hands. "Penny, what the hell happened?!" He asked, rushing towards the nearest open room. "I don't know doctor. She's pretty bad though..."
"I'll take care of her from now... go clean yourself up, you're covered in blood." The doctor ordered Penny. The nurse nodded. "Yes doctor." She breathed, leaving the room. She closed the curtain behind her and smashed the emergency button beside the door to call for extra doctors.
Cleaning up didn't even cross her mind. There was something else that she was worried about... that boy. He couldn't have been well. He looked as if he was in just as bad a situation as she had been in. She pushed the door open quickly and stepped outside.
"How the hell am I going to find this boy?" She asked herself outloud, and the answer nearly smacked her in the face. The boy had left an obvious blood trail. If her guess was correct, he would have passed out by now, either of exhaustion or blood loss. She had to get to him as soon as possible.
She ran as fast as she could, her lab coat whipping against the wind, her long hair floating behind her. She followed the blood trail, until she spotted a mangled mess sprawled out on the ground. There was a greedy fox nearby, and she quickly shooed it away.
"Boy?!" She asked, tapping him on the shoulders. She got no response. The boy had passed out, and by the puddle of blood she could see, it was a wonder that he wasn't even dead yet.
His wounds were terrifying. His stomach nearly ripped out, and his arms looked stripped of much needed skin. She couldn't move him yet. She had to stop the blood from flowing. She unbuttoned her coat, reveiling her maroon tank top. She tied the coat around his waste, and applied pressure.
While she waited for the blood to stop, she looked over his wounds. Each scratch was deep, and long, probably caused by a slightly curved, massive claw. What the hell was going on? She had never, in her life, seen a wound like this.
Finally, the blood seemed to stop. She had to get him back to the hospital. He needed a blood transfusion, and fast. A look at his face told her that he and the girl from before where probably twins. She deducted that he was probably trying to save her, but why not save himself also?
She hoisted him gently into her arms, then ran back to the hospital. Everyone was suddenly startled when she burst through the door with a second victim. "Again, Penny?!" A second nurse bellowed. "What the hell is going on?!" "No time to talk!" Penny managed to cough, out of breath from so much running.
"I'm taking him to room 9... send a doctor right away!" The nurse over the counter shook her head. "All the doctors are busy right now!" Penny frowned. "Then I will take care of him myself." The nurse looked alarmed. "But you are no doctor! You are just a nurse!"
Ignoring her, Penny shot down the hallway, and kicked open the door to room 9. She layed the boy down on the bed. A blood transfusion was already prepaired, which was meant for a patient that had already passed. She didn't have time to test what blood type he was. All she could do was pray that this would work. She hooked up the tubes to the boy and checked all the machines. When she did all she could, she folded her hands and dropped to her knees, whispering into the air.
---------
Amai frowned. She let out a sigh as the woman shut the door. She shrugged. There was no way in hell Amai was going to tell Howell to go home. Isca needed him. Without him... who knows what would happen. She glanced up at the red moon. It was getting closer to morning, but it wasn't fast enough.
She took the long way home, trusting that Howell and Mugi would have everything under control. She walked past a clearing. There was a single tree in the clearing. A small smile crossed her lips as she recognized a heart carved out of the tree.
'Ferdinand...why did you leave me?' She thought to herself. 'I still need you. Isca needs you. We could have run... the city wouldn't have chased us. We could have gone underground... I always wondered what it would be like to live in Nain
Taiyou...'
A gust of wind blew by, knocking Amai's thing blonde hair into her face. She pushed it back, and spotted a figure through the clearing. His wild hair... his tall figure... She froze in her step, her breathing nearly ceasing.
"Ferdinand..." She breathed, then took a step closer. Her eyes began to swell up. "No... it couldn't be..." She stared at the figure walking on by. He was at a distance... but his shape. It was so much like Ferdinands... She couldn't deny that.
She walked closer, her eyes finally adjusting the the lack of wind. She caught a glimpse of the rusted auburn hair, and her shoulders fell. "Its only Howell..."
Howell. Her heart gave a jolt. "HOWELL!" She screamed at the boy, then ran up to him. She huffed and puffed after finally catching up to him. Turns out growing older and staying at home all the time makes you lose energy.
"Howell, I thought you were with Isca?" She frowned. "Isca... and Mugi... are alone?" Panick crossed her face. "Oh no! Oh God no! The moon is still red, this can't be happening!" In fear, she ignored Howell, and ran towards the house. She didn't care how tired she felt, she had to keep running, no matter what...
She froze when she saw it. Her lawn was matted with blood. The door was thrown off its hinges, and there were various scratch marks on the trees. Whatever happened here, the beast had taken over Isca, and Amai was terrified. She didn't know where Isca was, or Mugi, or if either of them was still alive. The blood that she was standing in... was it Isca's? Was it Mugi's?
She cupped a hand over her mouth. "Oh dear God... please... no... Not this..." The tears stung her eyes. Why had she left? Would she ever see her children again? She dropped to her knees, crying into the grass.
"Ferdinand!" She bellowed. "How could you leave us?!"

Within the hospital, almost every doctor and intern on hand was beginning to buzz around the two mysterious cases brought in just moments before. Both looked like animal attack victims, which was not unusual in the city of Shikon Kenstume. However, by the looks of the girl’s scratches, it must have been a fairly large animal.
He loomed behind the crowd trying to help the girl and stop her wounds from getting worse. The man’s dark, muddy brown eyes could only continue to gaze at her. Doctor Nadorn quickly stole away to his office, which was always locked with three different keys. After opening the door to the dimly lit office and closed it behind him, he quickly began to shuffle through a few documents within his file cabinet.
“It can’t be… is it? After all these years?” He fingered through his pile of photographs until he found one with a specific date. Dated eight years ago. There were many, many photos was corpses, all with slash marks and deep bites. The doctor frowned deeply as he realized that the girl’s cuts did not match the beast’s claw marks at all. He cursed.
“I refuse to believe it is dead.” He hissed, grasping the gory photos close to him. He had to examine the girl and her brother more closely to be sure… but the boy was still in critical condition, as was his sister.
Doctor Nadorn burst through his office doors to a group of interns and doctors still trying to stabilize Isca. He made his way down the hall to a lone nurse who had to sit out from the amount of blood there was.
“Louise, where is patient number two?” He asked calmly as he rested a hand on her back. The nurse with a pale face pointed over to the room where Penny had disappeared. “Room nine. Penny went in with that boy.” She glanced up at him, “so much blood.”
Doctor Nadorn nodded and jogged over to the room with a small black nine printed in the centre of it. He pushed open the doors to see Mugi on the table and Penny on the ground, praying or what-have her. “Penny! This patient is in critical condition, what do you think you are—“ his voice trailed off as he saw the boy hooked up to the blood transfuser.
Doctor Nadorn stepped over and checked Mugi’s vital signs, then on the progress of the machine. “It’s doing fine… hm. Good job, Penny.” His eyes fell on to Mugi . Most of his clothes were still on, but ripped. “Did the patient have a name? The other patient is his sibling, correct?” All he really cared about was see if his scars were the same as the people’s from eight years ago.
--
Howell paused as he reached a tree, he sighed as he leaned against it. He wanted to go home, but he could feel him body pulling him backward. He wa suddenly alert as a figure approached him, but relaxed when he recognized it as Amai. He could see the terror in her face as she saw him, not with Isca, and ran past him.
A terrible feeling rushed over him, like something had screeched to a halt. He knew he should have went home at that moment, but he couldn't. He turned around, and ran after Amai.
He stopped only a few feet behind her, their yard was a mess, what the hell had happened in suh a short amount of time!? Howell cursed, if he haddn't left... "Amai. I'm sorry. This is my fault..!" He huffed, and quickly looked around the yard for any traces of Isca and Mugi.
It was a very slight trail, but he could see a few drops of blood sprinkled on the ground, leading away from the area. It was in the direction to the hospital; it was the only place he could imagine them going, what with all the blood.
Howell turned without another word said to Amai, he hoped she would follow, but he didn't have time to tell her where he was headed. He sprinted to the direction of the hospital.

As the doctor rudely burst into the room, Penny slowly rose to her feet. "Sorry doctor, I don't have a name... both patients were already passed out when I came to their attention. They appear to be siblings, very identicle... but its impossible to tell at this point sir. Both appear very badly wounded."
She looked down at the boy. Atleast he was still alive. It seemed like the blood transfusion was working... so far. She had gotten a good look at his wounds. They were deep, and sharp, almost precise. She knew those markings. After all, she had been training to be a doctor for some tme, and she had gotten to know all sorts of animal attack victims.
These wounds looked identacle to the wounds she had studied up on about the Dubois attack nearly eight years ago. What was worse was the moon marking that she noticed on the girl in the other room... the same as the man who had attacked the city before.
She needed to ask the boy questions, however, he was still out of it, and if doctor Nadorn stuck around for any longer, then things would get suspicious. She had know Nadorn for quite some time... and she never trusted him. She had to get him off of her back, atleast until she had a chance to talk to the boy.
"Please, don't try to touch the boy... he is in critical condition, and until his condition improves, he shouldn't be tampered with. " She tried not to sound scared, and instead came out a little bossy.
"I did get a good look at his wounds, though. The cuts are blunt, and shallow. They appear almost as if they were caused by a large badger of some sort..." She lied, describing the markings just like the girl had. "I don't suspect venom... seeing as how there is no emmediate change in heart rate. However, I will be sure to keep a close eye on this one.
"However, I believe the girl to be in more critical condition, doctor. She made need your attention. If the boy's situation gets worse, or he comes to, I will emmediately call on your help."
(sry, lousy post... my hand is STILL bothering me... I think I damaged the nerves in it or something Dx... and I have BAD writers block... please be patient with me. ^^; )

Dr. Nadorn quietly smirked to himself. Penny seemed irritated, which was not his initial concern, but at the same time quite satisfying. He was also quite angry with her, mostly because the boy’s wounds were obviously not from a badger. Doctor Nadorn was not the head doctor in the hospital, but animal attacks were his specialty. He had been obsessed with it for almost ten years.
He had seen enough of Mugi for his research, and quickly stepped away from the boy. Penny was acting like his mother, and Nadorn knew what mothers did to protect their young. “Alright, I’ll leave you to him. However, I do want an immediate report.” He glanced towards her; “I don’t want him out of his hospital until we get a story, Penny.”
With that, he left the small room. Two nurses quickly approached him; they seemed relieved, if not a bit strained. “We got her bleeding under control, and she is just resting now.” “Has she reached consciousness yet?” the doctor asked, both nurses shook their head.
“Alright. Thank you.”
--
Howell pushed through the doors of the hospital; he had regained his composure a bit, but was still frantic. He looked around the ward; there were no doctors to be seen. He sighed, not exactly the welcome he was expecting.
“Hello?” his voice echoed through the hall. He was surprised as a doctor came from behind him, grasping him from the shoulders. “Son, are you alright? You didn’t get attacked too did you??” It was a worried older man, Howell quickly turned around, “Oh, doctor Caines. N-no. I was looking for someone.”
Dr. Caines was a family doctor, usually at the clinic and not the hospital. “We got two kids in here, both with some bad animal attack injuries.” ‘T-Those are them! Can I see them, please?! It’s important! How are they, are they—“ “Woah, now. Calm down, son.” The man raised his hand to make Howell silent. Howell really hated it when other people called him ‘son’, but Dr. Caines was too old and friendly for it to not be okay. “Your friends are in critical condition. I was called over from the clinic, but it seems that they’re fine now. They are resting.”
Dr. Caines gave a hopeful smile to Howell, but it didn’t make him feel any better. “Can I see them? Please?” The doctor shook his head, “I’m sorry. Visiting hours are closed…” Howell looked up at him (one of the only men he knew taller than him) with watering eyes. The doctor sighed, the damn puppy eyes. “But I suppose I can take you with me, but only to see them. We want them to rest.”
--
Dr. Caines lead Howell to Isca’s room, though almost all the doctors had cleared out, there was still some doctors and nurses outside. She had been moved to a room with a glass wall for observation. Dr. Caines stopped outside and looked in the wall, he glanced to Howell. “Is this her?” He waited for a response, and it had been almost five minutes of silence. He turned to Howell, his heart ached as he watched the teenager’s hands press against the glass, face only inches from it. He looked about ready to cry, and hung his head, resting it against the glass with a bitter sigh.
“Howell… it isn’t your fault. They were both attacked, you couldn’t have known.” The doctor tried to comfort him further, but Howell just turned to him. “Dr. Caines… what about Mugi?” “Mugi? Oh, you must mean the boy. He—“ “Dr. Caines!”
A very angry, young doctor stomped up to Dr. Caines. His eyes looked livid. “We issued this a no visitors ward for this girl’s protection! What is this child doing here?!”
Howell glared at Dr. Nadorn. He seemed paranoid beyond belief. “Now, now Anthony. He was worried about his friends. He is with me.” Doctor Nadorn wouldn’t accept that. He looked to Howell with a menacing glare. “Listen, unless you know what happened to them, we cannot have you in here, unsterilized and contaminating the air!”
“Now, Anthony…” Dr. Caines began; he put a hand on Howell’s shoulder. “When this girl wakes up, she’s going to need someone. We don’t know her home number or her name for that matter. If you want information, why don’t you have Howell here ask the young lad when she’s ready? God knows she’ll need a friend when she wakes up. Especially with her brother in the other room in intensive care.”
Dr. Nadorn glared from both Dr. Caines to Howell, until finally giving in. “Fine! Fine. Sterilize him and get him in there. But I want to know what happened.” He shoved Howell in the direction of two nurses in the room.

"Dad?" The boy asked. The man looked down at the green haired child and nodded. "Yes, Mugi?" The boy bit his lip. "Dad, it's really hard. I almost died." The man nodded slowly. "I know, I've been watching."
"Why do these things happen?" The boy asked, his eyes sadened and dull. The man put his hand on the boy's shoulder. They looked very similar, almost the same, except for the age, and the eyes. The boy had his mother's eyes, there was no doubt about that.
"There isn't a person on the planet that could tell you why these things happen. You just have to be strong and endure it."
"But what if I'm not strong enough?"
No reply.
"Dad? What if I'm not strong enough? What then?"
"I don't know. You may not be strong enough. Maybe no one is. However, I believe that whatever happens...is simply meant to happen."
The boy frowned. "I don't think that at all. I don't believe in fate." The man looked down at his son. "Oh no? What do you believe in then?"
"I'm not sure... but I know that this world is cursed. I thought that our family would be happy... or atleast normal. I don't remember ever seeing a family who loved each other as much as we did... as much as we do... still, this happened to us. It doesn't make sense. I thought love was supposed to over come all this! So why am I here? Why are you dead? Why is Isca possessed by that monster?! Nothing makes sense!"
The man could see his son's frustration. A frown covered his face. "Miguel, there are things we will never understand. However, we already know that where there is sunshine, there are shadows, and where there is love, there is hate. It is like yin and yang. It does seem like we have been cursed... but you must not forget about your blessings."
The boy folded his arms, trying to understand. "Then why even try? Why not let things just happen?" The man smiled. "Now that is the question of the century! Mugi, you are human. You love, you get angry, you cry. Because of your human nature, you could never sit by and let things happen. Its natural to want to help your sister, or to change the world. Its what seperates us from the animals."
"Even so, whats the point if we have no control over what happens?!"
The man looked up, his eyes lost in wonder. "We do have control over a lot of things. We can't control what others do or feel, but we can try to understand them, we can try to make a difference. Love is stronger than we give credit for... we just can't give up. And, if something does happen that we didn't want to happen... well, we suck it up and move on. There is always more work for us to do. We don't get anywhere by getting lost in the past."
The young child transformed into a young man. His hair blew in the unexplained breeze, and his eyes looked forward, hoping, wondering...
"It's hard, really hard. But I love my sister, and I promise I will try my best to keep her safe, and happy, but I'm worried that I can't do it alone." The father nodded. "You wont be alone. Someday, Isca will be able to help. You just need to tell her the truth. And Howell is there too. He's a smart young man. I have a lot of hope for him."
Miguel looked over at his father, who now looked barely older than he was. "But I told Howell about Isca... he doesn't want to be near us. I don't blame him... but I don't think he will be of much help."
"No? Then you need to take a closer look, and start giving people a little more credit."
----
"Boy? Boy, are you awake?" The female's light voice woke Miguel from his rest. His eyes blinked open from the bright ceiling lights, and the pain from his wounds were a very unwelcomed feeling. His eyes finally settled on the pink haired lady, and he sighed.
"Damn it... I thought I asked for you to take care of my sister, not me?" The nurse smiled, glad to see that the green haired boy was awake. "I wasn't going to let you die out there." Miguel looked away from her. "I wish you had... this is going to be a problem." The nurse frowned. "Can I get your name, please?"
"Miguel..." He paused. "Just Miguel." The nurse stood up and checked the machine. Everything seemed stable, atleast for the moment. "Are you hungry? I could get you something to eat?" Miguel shook his head. "No thanks." He grinned. "The moment you leave this room, I'll be gone." The nurse nodded. "I figured you might try to pull something... so I had something already brought up."
The nurse reached up and pulled a small bowl of fruit from the table beside Miguel's bed, and handed it to him. Miguel took it graciously, biting into a rather sweet apple. "My name is Penny." The woman told him. "And we need to talk..."
Miguel chewed his bite and swallowed it. He set the bowl down in his lap with a sigh. "This is why I didn't want to be treated here..." Nurse Penny frowned. "How did you get those wounds? Better yet, I should be asked how the village is not in turmoil. Last time the moon turned red... the beast attacked, and killed many. This time, nobody was killed... and only two were injured? Please, explain to me."
Miguel took another bite of his apple, taking time to chew and swallow it. "I can't really talk about it." The nurse frowned. "I thought you might say so... but I'm not here to judge you... or your sister. I'm here to help."
Miguel just stared at the lady. Could he trust her? She had saved his sister, and had even gone off to save him as well. Even so... this wasn't a small matter. This was huge.
"It's not her fault. She can't control it. She doesn't even know about it. I stopped her... isn't that good enough?" The nurse stood up and pulled the curtains shut, then she walked over to a bowl of water and dipped a spunge into it. She returned to Mugi's side and lightly clensed his wounds with the sponge.
"Well then... I'm sorry this has all happened, but I'm glad that it isn't worse. I can't let you out of here... you are still in terrible condition. I'm suprised you're awak at all... You're a tough kid." Miguel laughed, even though it really hurt. "Thanks." He muttered. "But I need to get out of here... if anyone else finds out..." The nurse shook her head. "I will try my best to help the both of you, but you aren't going anywhere yet." She glanced around. "Stay here a few more days, and then you can go..." Miguel shook his head. "I can't stay that long. I have to protect my sister, even if it means taking you out. I hope you understand that."
The nurse frowned. "It wont have to result to that. Rest for a while. I'll make sure to have some medicine ready for you soon..."
----
'Go away... go away!'
The growling didn't stop.
'Go away!'
She couldn't see it's glowing eyes anymore, but she could still here it, growling and breathing heavily.
'I'm never leaving, child. Get used to it. I'm a part of you. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't even exist, so you had better be grateful!'
'You're lying! I don't believe you, no please go away!'
More growling, then laughter. 'I'm here to stay sweetie. Even if I leave you, I'll be back. I will always be back. Someday, your body will be mine. And when you die, I will take your children. I am immortal. I live in your blood. I may weaken, but I will never go away. And I will kill them all... that brother of yours, and your mother... oh, and I can't wait to taste of that boy friend of yours, Howell-'
'GO AWAY!'
Tears.
Silence.

Howell nodded thankfully to the nurses that gave him a scratchy doctor’s coat, he himself didn’t see how this was supposed to stop any bacteria, but listened to them anyways. He hesitantly approached Isca’s bed, the sheets blood-stained from her wounds, though as the nurses had told him just moments before, she was at least stable. At least, physically.
Howells brow furrowed as he pulled a small and simple chair from the corner of the room beside the bed. Heavily, he plopped himself down and rested his elbows on the mattress. She seemed peacefully asleep for the most part, but there was an expression on her face that he knew was not right. She seemed almost frightened, maybe trapped in a nightmare. He exhaled sharply, he didn’t know how he could possibly help her, or what to do. Howell ran his fingers through his light auburn hair as he tried to sort his scattered mind.
“Isca…” Howell rested his hand on top of hers. Her hands were warm, which made him feel hopeful, but only slightly. “I promise… I promise I won’t let this happen ever again. I’ll be there next time, Mugi and I. Please, wake up…”
-
Dr Caines watched from outside the room as Howell spoke to Isca. He could not hear his words, but as he read his body language, the doctor smirked to himself. Doctor Nadorn was not as impressed as he loomed behind him. “Dr. Caines, if you would excuse me a minute, I’m going to my office. I want someone to alert me the moment she’s awake.” The elderly doctor nodded, but the younger man was already gone. Dr. Caines didn’t like Dr. Nadorn, as did most others. He didn’t seem too considerate about the patients; in fact he was more interested in their injuries than their well-being.
-
Dr. Nadorn shut the door to his office behind him tightly, and threw over three locks, just in case. In a great haste he threw open two folders on his desk, all the pictures from earlier of victims from the incident so many years ago. Those photos, testimonies, and files were his only link to the Wolf demon he saw that night, that terrifying beast that he found so extraordinary. He knew from the beginning that it wasn’t dead, that the execution wouldn’t have stopped the beast. He wasn’t sure who it was, but those two children were linked to the original accused man, Ferdinand Dubois. It was unmistakable; their hair alone was a dead giveaway.
Nadorn flipped through the files, all the injuries suffered from that night only matched the male twin. Was he ever lucky to have seen the boy’s injuries before Penny could do anything to dress them properly. He was furious for not figuring it out sooner, but now it seemed all too obvious. The girl must have been the demon, the wounds on her body were of another creature; and though he did not know the details of the fight that had carried out, it didn’t take him long to conclude with the fact Isca was who he was looking for. The crescent moon on her forehead was also another detail he had added into his file for future reference.
Nadorn chuckled to himself quietly though he really just felt like crying. After so long, would the power behind the demon finally belong to him?
His shoulders lowered, instantly remembering that as long as Howell and Dr. Caines were about, there would be no way to move Isca. He cursed, though knew all was not lost. It was his wing, after all, and it would take mere seconds to clear them out.

Penny took a step outside, glancing down at her notebook. She had written the basic information, along with the type of wounds she.... "believed" it to be, with Badger attack written in the blank. When she looked back up, she could see a young man heading into the first patients room. Curiosity itched at her head. She shut the door behind her and stuck up the "critical patient, do not enter" sign in the empty slot.
Penny passed the room that was holding the boy's sister... the girl who carried the monster. She took a deep sigh and kept walking, until she found the room labeled "Prescription Drugs. Personel Only." She quickly pushed it open and scurried inside, emmediately scanning the shelved up and down for the medicines that she would need to help the boy.
----
The room was blasted with a sudden GASP, as Isca Dubois shot up straight in her bed. Emmediately, she regretted it, and slowly layed back down, pain shooting through out every pore in her body. She could see everything around her. It was a bit blurry, but even if it wasn't, she couldn't quite make it out where exactly she was, or who was standing around her.
She reached up and grasped her head, ignoring the slight pinching feeling she felt on her finger. "What...." Her eyes opened wider, and she recognized the white coats as hospital coats, and that made her nervous. "What happened?!" She sputtered, feeling as if any signs of energy were completely absent.
Then her eyes settled on Howell. What had happened? Last she knew, she was walking away from Howell, feeling very upset with herself. "Howell?" She glanced away from him. "I don't... know what happened. Was it Brigid? I... I'm so sorry."

Howell himself gasped in a large amount of air as Isca shot up. He stayed, shocked for a few moments until she actually spoke. She was all right, for the most part. At least she was conscious. The two nurses in the room seemed happy, and were in fact smiling quite widely. “Thank goodness.” One muttered, pressing a hand to her chest.
Howell watched her eyes trace around the room until finally falling on him. He never felt so relieved, though at the same time he had to realize the entire situation. Did she know he knew? Did she even know?
As she spoke, Howell quickly realized that she had no memory of any fight (besides the one from earlier that day.) “Isca, it’s alright. It wasn’t Brigid, it was…” he trailed off and glanced towards the nurses. Obviously Isca had no recollection; therefore they would have nothing to report to that shady doctor Nadorn.
“You don’t remember anything?” He grasped her hand firmly as it shook. Howell was starring at the murderer of hundreds of villagers? Of his family? He couldn’t sense it, and knew that the beast—creature---thing must have been concealed tightly within her subconscious.
“It doesn’t matter, we need to get your mother here, and I need to find Mugi.” He stood up, and instantly cursed to himself, he shouldn’t have even mentioned her brother’s name. He tried to smile, but it was horribly painted on. “Please, stay here. I’m so glad you’re alright, Isca.” He squeezed her hand once more before letting go, and quickly left before regretting his decision all together.
-
Dr. Nadorn exited his office with a small clipboard and walked to Isca’s room. Outside of it, Dr. Caines and the two nurses watched him intently. “It would seem the girl is awake. She’s scared, but she should be okay. Unfortunately… it seems she doesn’t have much memory of—“ “That’s enough. There are other patients that need attention, so if you would...” “Yes, doctor.” Both nurses chimed and quickly left in opposite directions.
Dr. Caines remained. His wrinkled face knew years of experience that Dr. Nadorn could not imagine. He glanced down at the clipboard; on it were photos, but ones that were kept well hidden against the doctor’s chest. His pockets were filled as well.
“I think this girl needs a rest. Maybe tests should wait until the morning.” “I believe, Dr. Caines, that as the head doctor of this wing, I will decide what I should do for my patients. I believe that you have some toddlers to care for at the clinic, and though I appreciate your help, if I would need it I would have asked for it.” Dr. Caines shook his head; he had never been talked to so disrespectfully—and at the same time so politely—in his life.
“You don’t fool me, Anthony.” And with that, Dr. Caines left. Doctor Nadorn glared after him, but did not move. He could feel his heart rage against his chest, and he let out a pleasing sigh. Now that he was alone, he could begin. Begin something he had been waiting for years.
“…Miss Dubois? My name is Doctor Nadorn.” The doctor chimed as he opened the door Isca’s room. He stepped inside, and quickly shut the blinds in the room, and then the door. He locked it.
“Don’t fret, my dear. I just need to check your tests. Blood poisoning and whatnot. Did you want some water? Maybe you could tell me how you wound up here?”
-
Howell growled as he tried to look through the windows of the hospital rooms. Mugi was nowhere to be seen, and he had left in such a hurry he didn’t think of asking Dr. Caines. He thought his luck had run out, and he would have to go back to Isca empty-handed. That was, until he saw a glimpse of pink hair.
“E-excuse me, I’m looking for someone. A patient.” Howell walked up to the assumed nurse, and raised his hand to about his chin. “Yay-high, green hair… please, it’s very important.”

Isca opened her mouth to apologize... but for some reason, she couldn't remember what for. She frowned as Howell left the room in such a hurry. She had wanted him to stay... She was so confused, so scared.
What had happened? She glanced down at her wounds. They were already bandaged, so she couldn't see much, but they were everywhere, and she could feel the pain in every inch of her muscles and bones. What the hell had happened to her? If it wasn't Brigid, then who was it who attacked her? Worse of all, how did she not notice that she was attacked.
The last thing she could remember was turning her back away from Howell. Howell had seemed so relieved that she couldn't remember anything. Had he...
No, ofcourse not. She couldn't even imagine. She glanced over at the door, hoping that Howell would come back. Her eyes instead focuses on the paper hanging from the door, which marked animal attack. So she was attacked by an animal? By the bruises she felt, and the pain, it had to be big. And how could something take her out like that without her even noticing?
Then she remembered something else, just before she lost her memory. She had caught just the slightest glimpse at the red moon... Red moon? The same night that her father turned into that beast. Or had he? For all these years, Isca could feel that her mother and brother were keeping something from her. A secret. What if her father wasn't the demon?
If not, then who was? She closed her eyes and tried to remember the night before. She and Howell seemed a little upset... She turned her back from him... the red moon... her being attacked without even noticing it...
What if Howell was... Her eyes shot open, fear overwhelming her. It couldn't have been. It didn't make sense. If Howell was the demon, then why had her father died?! Something wasn't right. She needed to know more. She couldn't jump to conclusions.
Still... the attack from last night... it scared her. It really scared her. Howell was relieved that she hadn't remembered anything...why? She hadn't even noticed Doctor Nadorn approach her, and hadn't heard a thing he had said. She was focused on something else. Something she had to take care of and fast.
She sat up in the hospital bed. Pain shot through her nerves, and she winced. She didn't even notice what the nurses were doing... it didnt matter to her. If Howell really was the demon, and he was looking for her brother and mother... what would he do to them? She had to stop him, she had to find out the truth.
All at once, she grabbed the cords that were attached to her and ripped them from her flesh, surprised at how little pain it caused her to feel. She threw her legs over to the side and stood up. Any pain and agony that had been in hidding before erupted into her nerves, and she let out a shallow yell.
"Focus, focus!" She reminded herself, then took off in a sprint, pushing past everyone and slamming the door open. "HOWELL!" She screamed down the hall. Looking both ways, she could see doctors running towards her. The other way was empty... she had no choice. She turned and ran down the hall.
----
Penny was walking quickly down the hall, desperately clinging to a number of medicines and bandages. Her hair flowed in her face, and she blew it away. She was so focused on getting the supplies to the boy that she almost didn't notice the young man standing in the hall, dismissing him as a nurse until he spoke up.
She skidded to a stop, nearly dropping her supplies. "Oh- Green hair?! Walk with me, quickly now please." She said, continuing down the hall. "Please, tell me how you know the patient... wait, female or male? I'm heading that way now-"
She stopped in her tracks as her eyes witnessed the scene unfold before her. "oh dear... the girl...Here!" She shoved the medicines at the boy, hoping he could carry them. "I think I can trust you... this is urgent. Take these to the boy, try not to be noticed... he is in room nine. If you can... get him, and get out, as quickly as possible. Everything I feared- oh dear."
She quickly hurried off in the same direction as the rest of the doctors. "Girl... you are too hurt to be running like this... but... please, run faster!" She said nervously, realizing that Nadorn knew everything. It was obvious... he had been researching that monster stuff for too long not to notice. That meant... he would be after the girl. She had to stop him...

Howell was relieved that someone knew where Mugi was. He followed close behind her, eyes fixed on the tails of her white lab coat, until she stopped, turned around, and shoved all the medical supplies into his clumsy hands. “You want me to what? I—I guess.” He murmured, she seemed very up in arms about something, and was too thankful for her help to question it.
He quickly glanced to the room number beside him; he was only a few rooms down. Howell made his way to room nine, and was quick to throw open the door and step inside the dimly lighted room (closing the door behind him, of course.) “Mugi!” the gripping around Howell’s chest loosened as he saw Mugi, alive on the table. He was injured, quite badly in fact, but alive.
Howell carefully set down the medical supplies, but kept on to some gauze and bandages. “Isca is awake too. Your mom… she’s still at your house. What happened?? I came back to see you both, but all that was there was blood and a huge mess.” He turned to Mugi, he seemed deeply concentrated and even a bit tired. His green eyes had a hint of dark circles around them, but his movements were rigid and alert.
“Here.” He handed Mugi the gauze and then some medication that Penny had given him, “this should help.” He paused for a long moment, and then sat on the counter, burying his face into his hands. He just wanted to know what had happened and if the demon had shown itself. Was Isca in the right state to be moved? Even if she wasn’t, Howell didn’t trust Dr. Nadorn one bit.
-
Dr. Nadorn calmly watched at Isca ran past him, locked doors were easier to get through if the lock was on the right side. He would hve to note that. He sighed and fished out a sedative from his pocket. At least there was some good that came from Isca’s fleeing. He could declare her unstable, get her sedated and under his care.
Coolly and calmly, Dr. Nadorn stepped out of Isca’s room and watched as she dashed down the hall. A nurse, then two doctors ran up to him. “Patient is—“ “Unstable.” He finished, “she needs to be sedated, or her injuries could get worse.”

After Mugi had wrapped up much of his more dangerous wounds and taken some of the pain killers, he decided to explain everything to Howell, too much in pain to wonder why or how Howell got here. "After you left... I-I got stupid. Isca began to turn... I could have stopped it sooner, but I froze... the demon took over. She was just too weak..."
He looked down out of disgust for himself. He hated that he hadn't reacted quickly enough, especially after all that had happened. "I had a...a friend... who helped me bring her down. She was injured badly... but it was necessary to stop the demon. Nobody... was killed."
Sadly, he looked back up at Howell. "Please don't blame her! This demon... it invades her mind, and takes over her body! It tortures her. She never remembers it, but I see the toll that it takes on her... I'm going to get rid of it some day..." Finally, curiosity sunk in. "Why are you here? I thought... I thought you were gone?"
---
Isca could hear the doctors closing in on her, but she didn't care. She kept running, every joint screaming out for help. She glanced through every room with a window, but she couldn't find him. She began to try to open the doors. She turned the handle... locked. She ran to the next...locked. She ran to another and grabbed the handle, but a doctor had caught up to her, and he grabbed onto her, tightly, despite her wounds. Isca let out a loud scream in pain.
"Please! Let me go!" She pleaded. "Howell! That auburn headed boy! He is the demon! The wolf demon that attacked the city! Its him! He attacked me! Please, I have to stop him!" The doctor only tightened his grip. "Nurse!" He shouted, and a male nurse emmediately jabbed her with a long needle. "No...." Isca murmered. "Howell..." She felt herself losing control, and her limbs went limp. "Howell..." Her vision blackened, and she fell asleep in the doctor's deathening grip.
'Why?'

Howell looked up from his hands as Mugi asked the question he had been wondering all along. “Yeah. I did leave.” He paused for what seemed an eternity. He wasn’t sure about his feelings, he could barley sum them up. “Look, Mugi. You did what you had to do. Isca… she seemed fine when I saw her.” His voice trailed off, he knew he was avoiding the main question hanging over the room.
“I want to help you stop that demon. It isn’t fair that it is using Isca’s body. She’s innocent. I believe that now. It… came as such a shock. Even now, it’s so hard to think about it.” He chuckled weakly, but instantly remembered the nurse’s words. “We have to get out of here, Mugi. Now. Are you okay to walk?” he jumped off the counter with a fluid motion and opened the door, peering outside cautiously. The hall was empty, but there were voices murmuring from a few rooms over.
He turned back to him, “You go, there is a fire exit just on the other side of the hall, I’ll go back to get Isca.” He wasn’t sure why the nurse wanted them out so quickly, but he would be damned if he was leaving Isca behind.
Howell turned the corner before Mugi could protest. He knew the nurse told him to leave with Mugi, but the voices were all coming from the same wing as Isca’s room.
With a sharp turn, Howell’s eyes widened. “What are you doing with Isca?” His voice was firm, but none of the doctors seemed to be too enthused. Dr. Nadorn quickly burst from the group, hesitantly looking from Isca to the boy. He smirked as an idea made it’s way into his head, a delightful, almost too perfect of an idea.
“You heard what she said! He must have been her attacker! It was a red moon last night, it explains her brother’s and her injuries all too well.” The Doctor’s grin stretched from ear to ear as two other doctors slowly walked over to him, hands out. “It’s okay, son. We’re not going to hurt you. We just want to ask you a few—“ Before they got a step closer, Howell kicked one in the jaw, falling back into the other. He paused, dead in his tracks before advancing further. Isca… she said that he was her attacker?
Waiting too long, a doctor grasped him by the arm, while a nurse struggled with keeping his shoulder’s steady. They all seemed frightened out of their minds; they really believed he was the demon? The doctor holding Isca walked towards Howell, holding another sedative. “Now, now.” He cooed, Howell cried out, “Damnit it’s a lie! Don’t listen to her, it’s—“ If he were put under, that would be it. He would be in chains the rest of his life; that perverted doctor would take Isca away…
With one last burst of strength Howell reached out and grasped Isca’s limp hand. He squeezed it once before falling completely limp himself. The doctors didn’t expect it, and he almost dropped to the ground, but was swept up in a male nurse’s arm.
Dr. Nadorn raised an eyebrow. “Did you sedate him?” The nurse shrugged, “No. Maybe he… fainted?” Anthony shrugged. “That doesn’t matter, have him locked up in the psychiatric ward until the authorities can claim him. I’ll take Isca back to her room.”

By the time Penny made it to the situation, it was too late. The doctors had Isca. And now... the other boy?! "Oh no..." She frowned. Slipping away from the crowd, she checked Mugi's room. He was gone. A sigh of relief washed over her. But this was no time to stop. She had to rescue the girl and her friend... Where had they taken her?
"Doctor!" Penny shoved to the front of the crowd of doctors. She watched the others take the auburn haired boy towards the psych ward. He would have to wait... "Doctor Nadorn!" She said, finally making it to the front. "Doctor, what are you doing to this patient?! Sedating her could cause her brain trauma... you could be seriously harming this child!"
She knew his intentions... And it scared her all the more. "Doctor, please unhand the girl. I will take care of her." She didn't care if she was just a nurse. She knew more than half the doctors there. "What are your reasons for this?!"
----
Mugi was breathing heavily among the trees. Howell's warning scared him. Isca was still in there... would everything be alright? He dropped the medicines on the ground and sighed. He was in too much pain at the moment... he would just have to trust Howell.

Dr. Nadorn was tired of hearing Penny’s voice, but he still had to keep appearances. He was so close… “Penny as you know this patient just ripped out her IV and dashed down the halls screaming bloody murder. There was no other choice. As for my intentions with her, I can assure you that it is completely professional…” he watched as all of the doctors and nurses cleared out of the wing, it was only him, her, and Isca.
“Listen, Penny. You and I both know what this girl is capable of. You’re not an idiot. You know what she is. I intend on seeing why this has happened to her, if this is genetics’ fault or simply some mutation or even… something supernatural.” He tried not to get carried away, but he was getting too excited. Of course, he didn’t explain the gory little details, but maybe it would be enough to sway Penny to leave him the hell alone.
“Anyways, what of that boy, her brother? His injuries were serious; he needs to be taken care of. I’d appreciate it if you left. Now.” His expression remained chilled and stone cold. “And if that doesn’t convince you, don’t think I can’t have you out of my sight in seconds.” He signaled over to small buttons at the front of each door, all nurse and doctors calls.

Howell felt himself crash into some kind of surface, if it was hard or soft he couldn’t tell. His head was killing him, and was expecting to be seeing the harsh white glare of the hospital. Instead, everything was dark. “What is this?” he thought, though as he thought his voice echoed out loud.
This wasn’t what was supposed to happen. He was supposed to possess Isca, and with his consciousness wake her body up. But where was he now? Where was his physical body? He felt himself getting weaker the farther away it was carried from him.
“Isca?” this time he spoke out loud, but there was still no answer. It hit him in that instant. He had heard of his clan members invading a person’s conscious, and it was said to be a rare trait to invade the subconscious. Was that where he was now? Inside Isca’s mind? If that was the case, he was only a guest in the mind until forced out, he could not control her, let alone see what was going on outside her mind.

She was crying again. She was always crying in the darkness.
"Girl, let me take control. I will rip the doctor to shreds. Even better... the boy. Howell. He attacked you, don't you intend to do something about it?"
The girl sniffled. "I... I don't think..."
"What? That he attacked you? It was the red moon, remember? You never saw him coming."
"Yes, but... Howell... he wouldn't lie to me..."
The beast grinned. "Then what is he doing here?" Isca looked up. "What are you talking about?"
This was too perfect. "Howell's power to take over somebody's body... he is now inside of your mind. All he has to do is kill you, and then he completly takes over. He'll kill your family. It'll be all over."
Isca shook her head. "He couldn't... he can't be here..."
Just as she said it, she saw him. There he was, almost unnoticable in the darkness. She wiped a tear from her eye, then stood up and walked over to him. "Howell?" She called out, tears still streaming down her cheeks. "Howell?" She paused. The creature was right behind her, like it always was, staring her down with angry eyes.
----
Penny shook her head. Doctor Nadorn couldn't be trusted. She reached out and grabbed hold of his arm. "Doctor, leave the girl. You... you are wrong about the girl." Her breathing was heavy now. She reached up and grabbed hold of her nurse hat, quickly pulling it away from her silky pink hair. Underneath it, marked on her forehead from birth... was a marking of the blue crescent moon.
"Doctor Nadorn... I am the beast." Her fingers slowly changed into claws, and fur steadily grew on her arm as she slowly started to transform. however, only her eyes and her arm became beast in appearence, her marking beginning to glow red.
"Leave the girl! You want the beast?! Come and get me!"

Dr. Nadorn almost droped Isca. “What? That cannot--- Penny?” He wasn’t sure what to believe. All his research, all his hard work… was wrong? He should have been happy, but was instead furious. “How could that of happened? That’s impossible! My notes, my research!!” With an uncontrolled anger he punched the nurse caller. Two doctors were also just happening to walk around the corner, pausing as they saw Penny in a semi-beat form.
Quickly they were on her, and tried to restrain her. Dr. Nadorn was breathing heavily, “Doctor! Are you okay?” “I’m fine… lock her in the psyche ward! With that boy!” He glared at her, and then looked to Isca. She was useless. He handed the limp body to a male nurse, “put her back in her room.” Dr. Nadorn was honestly terrified; Penny could tear him apart there. But that wasn’t in her nature. He wasn’t sure why she had attacked the village then, so many years ago… but the proof in front of him couldn’t lie! The entire thing only increased his anger.
“But, Dr. Nadorn…” “What?!” he whipped his head around, eyes a livid blue. “What about that boy? Wasn’t he the beast?” Dr. Nadorn didn’t care. Not at the moment, anyways. “Leave him in there with her, both will be taken to the authorities in the morning. Make sure she is sedated completely and chained head to toe! We cannot let another incident happen!”
Dr. Nadorn then disappeared into his office. From the outside, loud curses and crashing could be heard from a few doors down.
-
Howell was relieved to hear Isca’ voice, though he could tell that he was indeed in her subconscious. She was dominant in the darkness, while Howell was hardly a shadow. He took a step towards her, but quickly stumbled back. Her aura was so immense, but from behind her there seemed to be a greater source of energy, though it was completely unseen.
“Isca… why? Why would you accuse me of…” his throat tightened, he was too scared to even speak. Was that the conclusion she had come to? If she forced him out of her mind, and so far away from his body.. he would be in more trouble than he was now.
