The meat, though it wasn't much, was giving Kaige the energy he needed. However, he still felt weak and assumed he would for the next few days, but at least he could be comfortable in his own home instead of being hooked up to various machines and being disturbed by nurses every hour on the hour. He finished up the remaining meat, tossed the open container in the trash, then went to the sink to wash his hands. His thoughts wandered back to when he was getting adjusted to using all these gizmos and gadgets humans used and he laughed quietly to himself, remembering how different things were as a wolf. He still thought things were strange now, but he had adapted to his new life well enough.
Feeling better after eating, he wandered back on over to the fridge and took out a gallon of milk, drinking straight from the carton. He downed it within a minute and tossed the jug in the trash. "That hit the spot," he muttered, leaning back against the fridge and sliding down to the floor until he was sitting. He watched Salena curiously, but said nothing. She seemed... out of place, but it wasn't like he fit in there either. He had been as much as a wolf as she had. It was strange having someone else in his home, especially someone he used to know from before. He decided it wasn't a bad thing. Maybe it would be nice having company for once, even if it was someone he used to dislike. The past was the past and it was time to get over it and move on. He had better things to do.
He still couldn't help but wonder why Salena put up with him after all these years. He had been nothing but an ass to her after they went their separate ways, and even when they were still together. Maybe she did really care about him, or maybe she was just crazy. Anyone had to be crazy after dealing with him. "Uh...," Kaige started, averting his gaze from her as he traced a pattern on the floor. "Thanks for, uh, sticking around.... even though you didn't have to." He both looked and sounded awkward. It didn't seem like a genuine thank you, but with Kaige, it was good enough. It was hard for him to express things, unless it had to do with being angry. He never failed with that one.
He looked back over to her, then looked around the room. "Yes, yes I did... thanks," he said, feeling a little weird. "It's what I do for a living, although this isn't much compared to the other things I've designed and built." He scoffed when she said it was art. "This isn't art. It's... simple... the way I like it." He nodded as if justifying his response. "But thanks...," he said again, pushing himself back up to his feet. "Um.. feel free to dig around for something to eat or... whatever," he said, looking down to the ground and shoving his hands in his pockets. "Bathroom's around the corner or upstairs.. there's an extra room up there too. I should probably... clean myself up." He half smiled, then started to head off toward the stairs. "Make yourself at home." [/font][/center][/blockquote]

Salena blushed, glancing away. Was he really thankful that she had stayed? She didn't feel very helpful, just sticking around... infact, she felt like she was a bit more of a nuissance... the word clingy stuck in her head. She didn't want to seem clingy... but he had thanked her. It was a bit akward, but it sounded true... It wasn't very often when she heard a thank you at all from Kaige, and it lifted her hopes, if only a little.
"I didn't do it because I felt I had to." She simply muttered, as if it was nothing. She stayed with him because she cared about him. She stayed with him because as much as she hated herself, she loved Kaige. She wanted to be around him, even when it got akward... even if he got mad. At least she could still see him, still hear him, still know him... She never even had a chance with her family. Kaige was the first wolf that didn't push her out of their life, and it meant a lot to her. More than he could know.
She didn't argue with his art comment... she agreed that it was simple, but she also felt that something didn't have to be sophisticated to be considered art... it just had to come from the heart. She looked around the rest of the house, memorizing where Kaige had said where everything was located at. Then it made her wonder... how long was she staying? After all, this was Kaige's home. He had built it. It is here that he has been living, along, by himself... He had invited her in. Was he asking her to stay? It made her so confused...
When they were wolves, under most circumstances, you wouldn't let another wolf into, especially stay, in your den, unless they were mates or pups... Ofcourse, humans were WAY different. Infact, they preferred having company over. Often, they let simple aquaintances sleep over in their own homes. Perhaps Kaige had gotten used to that fact. Salena herself felt like she was becoming more and more human in thought each day, but it was still weird when she saw something so different.
She leaned against the wall, her appetite still on lunch, apparently, which was irony in itself. This was typical Salena... in the Forgotten Forest, it was usual to sit and just... do nothing. To watch nature change, or just enjoy the sensations of the wild. But as a human, she found herself becoming bored much more often, like just sitting around just wasn't... fun anymore. She also found herself to be an unusually boring person. She enjoyed the little things in life... and in all honesty, she didn't know how to have a "good time." So most of the time, she just came off as quiet and akward.
"Thanks..." Salena finally spoke, a half smile on her face. She hadn't expected to be welcomed in his house, but now that she thought about it, it was kind of nice. It made her feel like she somewhat belonged... but at the same time, she still wished she could do more.

"Right. Well, if you'd like something to eat, help yourself to whatever. Kitchen's stocked full of stuff. Make yourself comfortable. Whatever." Kaige shrugged, his back to her as he headed on over to the staircase. "Or you can just stand around awkwardly and not do anything," he added quietly with a slight snicker. He wasn't sure if she would be able to hear that, but he didn't mind. He wasn't meaning it in a bad way. "I shouldn't be too long," he called over his shoulder as he stumbled up the stairs. He'd probably be in there longer than he planned. It had been at least a week since he had had a shower and he felt that he needed one badly.
When he reached the top of the stairs, he turned off to the left to go into his bedroom. The untouched bed looked welcoming and he would've loved to just flop down on it and not get back up, but he had to resist the temptation. He wasn't the only one in the house at the moment. Thinking of that, he wasn't sure how long Salena would be staying. At that moment, he didn't care that she hung around, which he found odd but he didn't dwell on it. However, he wasn't sure if she'd want to stick around for long anyway. She seemed out of place in the house, but then again, she lived in the woods. Of course it would be a little weird for her. "What am I getting myself into?" he muttered to himself as he pulled out some clean clothes from his dresser. "A whole lot of trouble. I can see it coming."
Kaige couldn't literally see trouble coming, but something gave him that feeling. He shook it off as he wandered on into the bathroom, tossing the clothes off to the side. He adjusted the faucet until the water was the right temperature, yanked off his dirt ridden clothing and stepped in. The water was hot, but he didn't mind. It felt good on his stiff muscles and would help to loosen them up. It also felt nice to be able to wash his hair, which hadn't been touched since before he landed himself in the hospital.
When the water started to turn cold, Kaige figured it was time to step out. He shut it off, grabbed a towel and ran it through his hair before wrapping it around his waist, then stepped out. Wiping the mirror clean, he studied the various scars he could see in plain view. The bullet wound was bright in color and stood out, but it would even out eventually. His eyes wandered to the scar that ran from his right ear and ended at his chest. He had thought Thanatos would be dead and gone after that, but that was far from happening. He was still around, still lurking in the shadows, waiting. It was something that bothered Kaige to no end.
As if suddenly remembering someone else was in the house, Kaige snapped out of his thoughts and threw on the clean jeans and wife beater, leaving his hair a wet, tangled mess. He felt even better after having a shower and he could feel his strength slowly coming back, but he wasn't getting his hopes up. "Sorry that took awhile," he said as he walked down the stairs. He wasn't sure why he was apologizing, it was his house after all... but still, for some reason, he felt that it was rude. "So...," he started, coming to a stop at the bottom of the stairs. "Uh..." He wasn't sure what to say. It had been ages since he had had a real conversation with someone and this was the first time he had anyone else in his home. He felt nothing but dumb and awkward. Salena listened carefully, just to make sure Kaige was preoccupied. With him out and about in the house, she didn't want to be rude and look around, but now that he was busy, she wanted to take the time to explore a bit of the house. She ran her hands along the walls, and anything else that looked like it had been made of wood. It was amazing to see what humans could do with just trees... Even having been a human for a few years, she was learning something new every day, and even the things she had known still amazed her.
She marvelled at every tool or splash of color she could find. The furniture looked extremly inviting. She nudged her way over to the couch, and sat herself on it. It was softer than she thought it would be, and so different than what she was used to. At first, she found it uncomfortable, but eventually, she found herself sinking deeper and deeper into its cushions, unsure quite when or even if she could ever get back up. She hated to admit it... but this was the first time she had sat on a couch. Infact, before Kaige's house, she had only been in two other houses before, but only for a split second. This was all new to her.
Finally, her curiousity poked at her enough to get out of her comfortable seating, and she explored the house a bit more. She stopped when she reached the stairs, and for a while, she just stared at them. They were so appealing to her for some odd reason... just the way they were built, unlike anything she had seen in nature. She ran her hand along the hand rail, gliding up a few of the stairs, stopping about half way. Then she looked down at the bottom floor. There was such a new perspective to everything... It was all very eye catching.
Her ears twitched when the water upstairs quit running, and she forced herself back downstairs. For a moment, she almost paniked, not sure whether she should make herself at home like Kaige had suggested and take a seat, or return to the spot she was standing before to pretend like she hadn't just roamed the house like some curious kitten. She ran out of time to think when Kaige came downstairs and talked. Atleast she wasn't standing in the same place she had been before.
"Its no big deal." Salena shrugged. In a way, she wished he would have taken a bit longer so she could have seen more of the house, but for the moment, she was content with what she saw. She looked up at him and bit her lip. Seeing him clean, fresh out of the shower was something, embarassing as it was to admit, she quite liked seeing. His hair looked darker when it was wet, just like a wolf's fur did after taking a dip in a quiet river. She smiled dumbly.
Another thing she noticed about a wet human... scars seemed brighter than usual. Maybe it was because water tended to make the rest of their skin soft and lighter, but she could easily see a few of his scars, especially the big scar that ran down his neck. For a flash of a second, she imagined he was the old Kaige... wolf Kaige. She looked away, embarassed, after realizing she must have been staring. But the truth was... she liked those scars. Not that she didn't wish he didn't have them, but they didn't make him any less hansome. Infact, they just reminded her of the life they used to have. They reminded her of how strong and brave Kaige was, which was refreshing after seeing him in a coma for so long.
"Nice house." Salena shrugged, akwardly. "Its... big. I mean, bigger than my hut in the woods..." She also noticed how much more comfortable and dryer it was. "I can see why humans prefer to live in these things." She laughed, just as akward as before. She looked down and took a deep breath. "Well..um... how are you feeling?" She asked stupidly. She just hoped he was feeling some what better... then again, he still hadn't had time to simply rest. She imagined he would want her out of the house if he were to rest... but she wasn't sure where she would go, or what she would do. Especially since she wanted to keep an eye on him, just incase he made a turn for the worse and she needed to rush him back to the hospital, which she guessed he would be furious with her about...
There was just no winning this thing. She sighed and shrugged it off. She would do what he asked her to do. Its what any loyal wolf would do for their alpha... even for a lone alpha like Kaige. Lone alpha... why was it that she was beginning to feel so silly when she thought of wolf terms? She could be so confusing sometimes.

Kaige shrugged and moved from the staircase to a large window in the kitchen that overlooked the backyard. The sun had set awhile ago and the sky was various shades of deep, dark blues and purples. The moon was overhead, nearly full, and the stars were out in full force. It was easy to see everything out here in the middle of nowhere, unlike in the city where everything was cluttered and brightly lit. Kaige preferred it this way. It was away from everyone else and it was peaceful. It was also a reminder from his wolf days. He could never live in the city - it was too much for him to handle.
"Thanks," he said as he turned back to face her, leaning his back up against the window. "I did what I could." He shrugged again and began to comb his fingers through his mess of hair, sending small droplets of water falling to the floor. It had taken him awhile to get the place exactly how he had wanted it to be. Long days and nights, countless hours used up, but it was worth it to him. At least he had a place he made himself and could call his own. He would've hated to be one of those people he saw on the streets in the city without a home. After thinking that, he felt somewhat bad. Technically, Salena was like those people, just out in the forest instead. He brushed the thought away, looking passed her shoulder.
"If your place was bigger than mine, that would be something," he said with a half smile, looking back at her briefly. "Yeah, it's not so bad. No rain soaking up your fur... not that I have any... no dealing with freezing cold temperatures or ridiculously hot days. They have things that make it more bearable. Central heating and air is what they call it. Makes life a little better." He crossed his arms over his chest and looked up toward the ceiling. "Plus all that furniture crap... yeah, it's pretty cool. Make's life a little better." He smirked and shook his head. This was probably the most he had said to her civilly without one of them blowing up.
"I'm feeling better than I was before," he answered with a stretch. "Not completely better, but definitely better than the previous week. Just gotta wait and hope I don't pass out again, I guess." He wasn't sure if that would happen again. He had no real idea of how the human body worked. He almost didn't want to go to sleep for fear of falling back in the black abyss and being trapped in his mind for who knew how long. He wouldn't admit to that, though.
"So, uh..." He stopped as if he wasn't sure what to say or how to word what he wanted to say. He was standing upright again, swaying back on his heels, his hands shoved in his pockets. "I guess you can stay here... if you want," he said rather awkwardly, looking down at the floor. "I mean, you don't have to. Whatever you feel like doing... it's up to you." He nodded, then fell silent. And to make things even more awkward, crickets started up with their noise outside as if they were purposely trying to make the awkward silence even more... awkward. Salena agreed with Kaige for the most part. Sleeping outside was a bit... difficult out in the wilderness. She never much minded, mostly because she was used to it. It was the one thing that was the same. Salena strode up to the window beside Kaige, looking out into the woods. It was a nice view. It was like being in the forest, but with out all the... weather and danger. Boy did houses come in handy. It almost made her want one...
After staring out the window for a while, she finally shrugged. "If... If its not too much to ask." She turned around to face him again, and rubbed at her arm absentmindedly. She didn't want to admit that she wanted to stay to keep an eye on Kaige... she was afraid it may make him try to do everything himself, maybe even ask her to leave. "I mean... sleep here and everything?" She asked, adding to the awkwardness of the moment. She laughed selfconciously. "Sorry I'm just... yeah. Wolf.. den... you know." She rolled her eyes at herself. She hated explaining things to humans, but with Kaige, she felt like he could understand where she was coming from.
"Thank you... really... You don't even know how much this..." She giggled uncomfortably, and bit her lip. "T-thanks." She tucked a few stray strands of hair behind her ear and twiddled her fingers, inhaling loudly. She turned away from him again. Things just seemed to be getting more and more awkward by the minute. She was almost afraid that they would both just drop dead from the silence. Atleast her mind felt like it was slowly frying...
And then she started to feel bad again. "Kaige, I am so sorry that this happened to you. When I was waiting for you that night... I... I got so worried. Its because of the date thing, isn't it? That this happened? I should have...I should never have... I'm sorry, It was so stupid. I didn't know you'd get hurt." She avoided his eye contact, almost afraid that he might remember what happened and jump at her with a knife.
"I just thought... that maybe, if we could sit down, and just... try... try to be civil with each other, that we could..." She turned away. "It was stupid. I'm sorry..."

Standing there with nothing to say was causing Kaige to grow antsy and he had no idea why. He normally welcomed silence, but he wasn't alone this time. He was with someone he knew from his previous life, someone he had been involved with, and that didn't make it any easier. Her coming closer to him didn't make him feel any better either, but that was a stupid thing to think of considering what had happened much earlier the other week. He shook his head lightly and took a few steps away, muttering something under his breath. It was almost a relief when Salena started talking again.
He had the feeling that she would want to stay. Maybe she had just been waiting for reassurance from him. "Sure...," he replied slowly, crossing his arms over his chest again. "If that's what you want to do." He looked down to his feet and frowned slightly. "Yeah, I get what you mean," he said, dropping his arms down to his side. "It's not a problem. Don't worry about it." He brushed his arm to the side and shook his head. "Not a big deal. You can have the other room upstairs, or if you're too weirded out by that, you can sleep on the couch. Or if that weirds you out, too, you can sleep on the deck... or in the yard... you know," he said, looking up and over to her. "Whatever floats your boat."
Growing tired of standing and feeling somewhat weak again, Kaige walked over to a chair and sat down, sighing heavily. He propped his elbow up on the arm and rested his forehead against his open palm, letting his hair fall across his worn out looking face. He hated feeling like this. He started to wonder if he should have stayed at the hospital. Maybe then they could have given him some medication or something to make things a little better, but then again, what kind of pills could make all of this go away for at least a few hours? His mind ran blank. He couldn't think of anything, but he didn't know a lot about human medicine.
His head jerked up when Salena started speaking again and he frowned. "Don't worry about it," he said, half shrugging. "Wasn't your fault. If anything, it was mine. I'm the one who got into smoking, therefore I'm the one who got myself into trouble." He looked away, balling up his hand into a fist beneath his chin. "Shit happens," he said, staring intently at the wall. "I mean.. everything happens for a reason. Even the bad stuff." He looked back to her and smiled, but it didn't reach his gray eyes. "I'm used to it anyway. Bad things tend to follow me around... I can't even get rid of it in this world." He shrugged again. "I might as well get used to it."
He watched her, somewhat curious, and wondered what she meant. He had taught himself to read human expressions to try and get a feel for what they were thinking or feeling, but he was lost. Maybe it was because he wasn't feeling too great, or maybe he had just lost his skill. He brushed it away, not really bothered by it. "That we could what?" he asked. If she answered, great. If she didn't, well, he'd find out one way or another. [/font][/center][/blockquote]

Salena shook her head. "It was stupid anyway." She scolded herself, covering her slightly watery eyes. She turned around and began to walk away, but then she felt weird... It was Kaige's house. Where exactly was she going to go walk away to? She needed time to think, before she just started blurting things out. Or maybe it would be best if she finally talked about what was important to her instead of hiding it all from Kaige to protect him. Kaige was a big boy. He could handle whatever she had to say.
Finally, she turned around and shrugged. "I thought you could love me again. I thought we could be together again." She blurted out loudly. She grunted, somewhat angry with herself. "Like I said, it was stupid. I should never try to force this stuff. I shouldn't..." She paused. She shouldn't have what? Even tried? Cared? But she did care, and she did try. She couldn't help the way she felt, how she had always felt.
"I guess..." She sighed. "It just never seemed fair to me... how we became seperated. We were mates, but neither one of us ever even really got a chance to really, truly get to know one another. I guess I figured if we had the chance, then we could make a more... appropriate decision. To be together or not to be. A decision that wouldn't be forced on us."
She bit her lip. Maybe it all sounded stupid... but it made sense to her. She loved Kaige, but in reality, they hardly knew one another, except for the obvious personality quirks. So much time had passed by that she felt like she knew him even less than she had before. She just wanted to get to know Kaige again, and for him to get to know her. If he still hated her after than, then fine. It might be tough, but they could move on. She just wanted a chance.

"Oh." It was all Kaige could think of to say. He had the feeling that that was what she meant, but he could have been wrong. At least now he knew for sure and it only made the awkward situation even more awkward. On the one hand, he had an idea of what he wanted to say, but on the other, well... he wasn't sure if saying it would be a good idea. He remembered from previous incidents that she didn't take some things he said to well and he didn't really want to deal with that again. At the same time, though, he couldn't lie or hide anything. That was juvenile stuff and he was an adult. It was time to act like one and since she had been honest with him, he could do the same thing for her.
"Well, uh..." He cleared his throat and folded his hands in his lap, looking down at the floor with a frown. "I get what you're saying and all, but..." He paused, his frown deepening. He didn't really know how to word what he wanted to say without it sounding bad. He shook his head and sat back up. "I don't know. Yeah, you're right, you can't force this stuff, but..." He paused again and sighed. "I mean, shit happens. It all happens for a reason." He looked down to his feet and twiddled his thumbs, chewing on the inside of his lip. He hoped this wouldn't blow up in his face. "I can't say that I know what's going to happen or anything, because I don't... I mean, well, I have my powers and all, but they don't work like that." He stopped, realizing that wasn't really relevant to the topic.
He didn't know why he was hesitant in saying what he wanted to say. Was it because he didn't want to hurt her feelings? He normally didn't care about people's feelings, so what was different this time? "I guess.. that.. what I'm trying to say is...," he said slowly, his forehead wrinkling. "A relationship is not really something I want right now. I know you're not saying let's get in one right now, but honestly..." He paused, biting down on his lower lip while looking at the floor. "I just want to do me right now. You know... live my life and all that. I'm not ready to be in a relationship right now or anytime soon. I'm sorry..." He hoped she wouldn't take it too bad, but he couldn't do much if she did. He felt somewhat bad, but what he said was the truth. He wanted to do what he wanted to do before he committed himself to someone, if he could even do that. It had been quite some time since his last relationship, and that was when he was still a wolf. Too many bad memories and while he knew things could change and so could people, he just wasn't ready. [/font][/center][/blockquote]

Salena stared at him for some time, quietly listening to what he had to say. When he had finished, she took a long, slow breath, and smiled. The eyes behind the smile looked sad and defeated, but, it was a smile.
"I know, Kaige." She spoke softly. "I know. I just hate that things happened the way they did, and I was just hoping we could start over... I wasn't expecting anything special. I just wanted to see if we'd still fight the same way we did, or if things were different."
She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and inhaled sharply. "Oh well. It doesn't matter." She exhaled, then looked around. "Well... I wanted to stay... erm.. just to keep an eye on you. You know, make sure you don't just die out here with no doctors around." Her ears felt hot, and she realized she must have been blushing from embarassement. She knew how stubborn Kaige was, and he might not be too happy with that, but she still didn't want to leave him alone.
"If you don't want me here..." Salena continued. "Well, I'll leave. Okay, so I wont leave[/], leave. You can probably guarantee that I'd lurk in the woods nearby... just to make sure you're okay." She was just being honest. She didn't want to hide anything anymore. "But I don't want to bother you. On the other hand, if you still want me to stay, I'll stay. I promise you'll hardly know I'm here. I don't make messes... and I'm not very loud."
She bit her lip. This new being honest about things thing seemed to bring on a new level of akwardness, but atleast they weren't fighting. Salena was so sick of fighting.

Kaige propped his elbows up on his knees and buried his face in his hands, pressing his fingers into his closed eyes. Salena didn't seem too terribly upset, but she didn't seem happy either. There wasn't a whole lot he could do. He could've lied to her and got her hopes up, but he wasn't putting himself in a situation he didn't want to be in. Besides, it wasn't fair anyway. He wasn't out to get revenge or do any of that childish stuff. It was all in the past and there was nothing they could do to change it, so he got over it. Being bitter and hateful wasn't going to get him anywhere anyway, so what was the point?
"Well...," Kaige spoke up, his voice muffled from his hands. "Like I said, shit happens." His hands dropped to his knees and he looked over at her briefly. "It's all done and over with, so there's no need to fret over it." He slouched down in his chair, tapping his fingers on his knees. It was still relatively early in the night, but he was starting to feel tired. Maybe he really was getting old, or maybe it was just the weak feeling he had. "Really doubt I'm going to die soon...," he muttered, looking off to the window. It's what he assumed anyway since his mother told him there were still things he needed to do, though he had no ide what those things were.
"You can stay if you want, or you can leave." He half shrugged. "Yes, I get that this is my house and I can tell you to bug off, but I'm not telling you what to do." He pushed himself up from the chair slowly and stretched, laying his hands on top of his head. "You're a big girl... you can make your own decisions." He looked over his shoulder to the staircase, then back to her. "But me... well, right now I think I'm going to turn in early. I'm kind of tired and feeling worn out, so I should probably try and get some rest." His hands dropped to his sides and he stood there quietly for a moment, unsure of what to say.
He wondered what she would do, but then shook his head to himself and turned toward the stairs. "So... I guess I'll see you around...," he said slowly as he started to walk away. "'Night." With that, he made his way to the stairs and walked up, reaching his bedroom a second later and shutting the door quietly behind him. If she was there in the morning, fine. If she wasn't, fine. He wasn't going to make up her mind for her. [/font][/blockquote] {{ Sorry it sucks. ¬¬; }}

Salena watched him leave up the stairs, and waited until she heard the door shut to finally move. She walked back to the kitchen window. It had a lovely view of the woods... but it just wasn't the same as being out amongst the trees. At least in a house though, the temperature was bearable, and everything seemed so comfortable.
She let out a long breath, fogging up the window. Kaige had told her that the decision was up to her, so she decided she would stay. She turned away from the window and walked out of the kitchen. She made her way to the couch she had sat in before, and stood against it. Looking around the room, she wondered what she would do while Kaige slept. Out in the woods, she normally just cleaned up debris from her "den," hunted for food, cooked, swam, and sang when she got bored. Inside, she was beginning to feel a little... bored.
She shook the feeling off and looked around. As if by instinct, she started to clean up the room. She fixed the couch cushins, blew the dust off of a few knick-knacks, and wiped a smudge off the window. It wasn't much, but it had eased a bit of her boredom. Afterwards, she sat down on the couch and let her mind wander.
She wondered if Kaige was sleeping alright, and if he was even still alive. She wondered just how he really felt about her. Part of her mind wanted to think that he still loved her, but another, more dominant part of her brain told her that she was just kidding herself and that Kaige was probably just holding back repressed anger. Frustrated, she forced herself to think about other things... but then all she could think about was what kind of a future she would have. If not Kaige, would she ever find love? Would she ever have kids? She knew that someday she wanted kids... what would she name them? Would they be a boy or a girl?
Finally, she snapped herself away from her daydream. "This is not the time to get caught up in your stupid feelings, Shinrin." She growled at herself, something she often did to ease the boredom from years of being a lone wolf. She glanced behind her, wondering how Kaige was doing. Quietly, she snuck upstairs, until she found the room that Kaige was sleeping in. She pressed her ear up to the door and listened. She breathed a sigh of relief when she heard his sleepy breathing. Atleast that meant that he was still alive.
She silently made her way back downstairs and yawned. All that daydreaming had finally made her sleepy. She returned to the couch and layed down on it. It was so soft, she thought she could get sucked up into and never wake again. And in a way, she almost wished it would happen. An eternity of sleeping soundly sounded like a really good idea...
Eventually, she drifted off into a light sleep, awaking to the sound of every owl or rustle in the trees outside. She sighed heavily and rolled over, burying herself into the couch, but it was no use, she just couldn't sleep right. Perhaps the couch was just a bit too comfortable for her liking. She stood up and instantly felt aches in her back and neck. Grunting to herself, she decided the couch wasn't the right place for her to sleep.
She made her way over to the front door, and turned the knob, trying to make as little noise as possible. She snuck outside, and shut the door with a light click. Tiredly, she made herself comfortable in the lawn next the the house. She was covered by a bush, so she felt relatively safe enough. To her surprise, she fell asleep emmediately, drifting into heavy slumber.
===
"SHINRIN WAKE UP!" She could hear the voice shout. Her eyes blinked open, and light flooded into her vision. "K-Kaige?" She mumbled as her vision finally cleared. There was nobody around. She tried to stand up onto her feet, but she fell forward. Something felt different, and yet... oddly familiar. She looked down at her hands; only they weren't hands, but paws.
"Shinrin, are you awake now?"
Salena turned around. Standing behind her was Kaige, only he wasn't human either. He was a wolf. A strong, brave, handsome wolf...with a smile?
"You slept in so late, I thought you were dead." He spoke with a chuckle. Salena stood to her paws and looked around. They were back in the Forgotten Forest... back in their old pack, back when they had been together...
Kaige trotted up to her and nuzzled the side of her face. She stepped away and looked at him curiously.
"What's the matter?" He asked, and Salena frowned. "This... this can't be true. Kaige, we're wolves again? And... together again?" She felt so confused.
Wolf Kaige laughed. "Again? Shinrin, we've always been wolves, remember? And we've been together for years now." He nuzzled her again, and she let him do it, feeling the softness of his fur against hers. She was so confused... all these years, had they just been a dream? If not, how were they wolves again? And how was Kaige so...happy? And loving on her?
"Come quick, darling." Wolf Kaige exclaimed happily. "Our daughter waits for us." Salena cocked her head. "Daughter?" Kaige nodded and chuckled. "Ofcourse. Midnight. Today is her first hunt! Don't you want to see her off?"
Salena followed Kaige, completely confused. Finally, they reached the top of a hill which over looked their packlands. At the bottom of the hill was a completely adorable wolf pup with dull, golden fur and blue eyes. She looked happy.
"Midnight!" Kaige called down to her. The pup turned and ran up the hill, yipping with happiness. She ran up to Salena and rubbed her face against Salena's legs. "Mommy! I'm so excited to catch my first prey!" Kaige laughed. "You'll do great, Midnight! You're a natural born hunter, just like your mother." He looked at Salena adoringly.
Midnight yipped, then took off down the hill, her curled tail wagging crazily. Then slowly, everything began to fade away, leaving just Wolf Kaige and Salena. "What is all this?" She asked him, and he beamed at her. "This is our life." He told her. "Or what could have been..." His smile turned into a frown. "I've missed you."
Salena glanced away, suddenly feeling overwhelming sorrow. "Me too... I'm so sorry for what happened... I always wanted our life to be like this. I didn't know about my sisters. I didn't know they would take me away from you..." Wolf Kaige put his paw on hers, and she was forced to look him in the eyes.
"I know." Wolf Kaige spoke sadly. "I told you to forget about it. The past is in the past..." Salena frowned. "But if this is the life we could have had..." Her ears drooped. "I want this. I want to see you like this again..." Wolf Kaige looked over at her and rose his brow. "A wolf?" She shook her head. "Happy."
Wolf Kaige looked out into the darkness and shrugged. "That could happen again, maybe someday..." He chuckled and turned back to her. "Probably not though." Salena felt bad. "Don't worry though." Kaige spoke up again. "We can be miserable together."
Salena laughed, though only slightly. "I'd rather be the most miserable person in the world than see you unhappy..." Kaige laughed. "You're crazy. I think you enjoy pain and suffering." Salena scoffed. "I do not!" She protested. He laughed. "No? Then prove it to me. Quit being so miserable. We may not have this life... but..." He turned and began to walk away, slowly evaporating.
"But what?!" Salena called out after him. Wolf Kaige turned his head and smiled. "We still have time, and we still have each other..." He stopped, his body already partially translucent. "You know, I don't like to see you miserable either. Lighten up a little, ok?"
Salena couldn't help but smile sadly as she watched him walk away, becoming further and further away. "Oh, wait!" She stepped forward and shouted, but Kaige didn't stop. "Why Midnight? Why name her Midnight?" The curiosity of the moment had gotten to her, after all, the pup's fur was hardly black. She could hear laughter coming from Kaige as he evaporated. "Well, that's because of the night that we---"
But his voice faded away, and Salena felt herself become tired once more. She layed down, and rested her head on her paws. Slowly but surely, she drifted back into a deep slumber.

Memories from the past, things from the present, and images from the future plagued Kaige's unconscious mind as he slept through the quiet, chilly night. It was like watching a rerun of an old show, a show most people probably wouldn't like. Then the channel would change to something more recent and updated. The channel would change again to things that hadn't even happened yet, like it was a teaser. It was like having a vision, but he was asleep as there was no telling if it was real or if it was a dream. It all became a blur as it mashed together, soon fading away to nothing until everything was covered in darkness and the rest of the night proved to be dreamless.
"Kaige..."
A voice shook him from his peaceful slumber and his eyes opened, almost watering from how bright the light coming into the room was. He hadn't recognized who the voice belonged to, but figured it may have been Salena checking on him to see if he was still alive. He lay there in his bed for awhile, blinking rapidly to wake himself up and get adjusted to the sunlight. He felt somewhat fine, but then again, he was still laying down. He wouldn't know for sure until he dragged himself out of bed. "Another useless day...," he muttered as he rubbed his face with his hands. With a groan, he threw his covers off and sat up, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. "Why can't I just stay asleep?" It seemed like his normal attitude was back.
Muttering some more under his breath, he stood up, almost falling back from getting up too quickly, and stretched. He did feel better, not one hundred percent, but definitely better than the day before. He made his way out of the bedroom and hurried down the stairs in nothing but a pair of loose sleep shorts. When he was home, he preferred to wear as little clothing as possible. Clothes never did appeal to him, he still though they were weird, but he had to keep them on in public to avoid being looked at like he belonged into a mental institution. When he got downstairs, Salena was nowhere to be seen. He stood there for a moment, wondering if she had taken off, then shrugged and thought nothing more of it. It was too early for him to wonder or worry about things.
Assuming he was alone, he clambered around nosily, moving around pots and pans until he finally found one to his liking and slammed it down on the stove. He had no idea what time it was - a clock was nowhere around at the time - but eggs and bacon sounded good to him. He grabbed what he needed from the fridge, assembled everything together, and got to cooking. A life of solitude seemed best to him, but at the same time, he wasn't sure. He would never admit it, but sometimes it was nice having someone to talk to. [/blockquote]

To her surprise, the clinging and banging coming from the kitchen did little to stir Salena. Having slept in a noisy hospital for a week must have damaged her senses temporarily, something she knew she needed to fix if she was going to be sleeping out in the forest again. Especially a forest full of giant man eating bugs.
The crisp aroma of frying bacon did, however, easily snap her out of her dream state and into reality. Like a curious puppy, she sat up and pointed her nose to the air, inhaling the scent and catching a small taste of its flavor. She exhaled dreamily. For too long she had dined on nothing but apples and water. She would kill for some meat. And some sprite... but more importantly, meat.
It took her a moment to realize where she was. Her dream the night before had her reliving her wolf memories, and she almost thought she was back in the Forgotten Forest. Of course, when she stretched and hit her hand on the side of the house, she remembered exactly where she was.
She had never slept in past sunrise before, so it almost startled her how bright it was. She realized she must have been more exhausted from sleeping in that hospital chair than she first thought. At least by now she was mostly recharged, all except for a few aches in her lower back that she imagined might be there for a couple of days.
She leaned her back on the side of the house and looked up at its size. Compared to any den she had ever slept in before, it was massive, and definitely impressive, even if Kaige wouldn't admit it. She stared up at the window well above her head and wondered how Kaige was. A slight spark jolted her heart into worried mode, until she realized that the smell of breakfast must have been coming from inside the house. She exhaled deeply, allowing herself to calm down before contemplating what to do next.
She thought about leaving, for a moment. After all, chances were that if Kaige had gotten through the night, he would probably survive a bit longer. He didn't need her around to dampen his mood and make him even more negative like she felt she so often did. When it came to cheering somebody up, Salena was terrible at it.
But then she thought about the dream she had the night before, and the week she had spent next to Kaige in the hospital. She could only remember a few blurry bit of the dream, but it inspired her, in some way. Even more so than she felt last night, she did not want to leave him, not yet at least. She couldn't tell the future. Well, she could... but it wasn't something she relied on anymore. She wanted to make her own destiny, and right now, she wanted to stick around. It was a miracle Kaige was even alive. And if dream Kaige was in any way right, maybe there was some reason they were both still around. Being the curious critter that she was, she decided she would stay for as long as Kaige allowed her.
Finally, she stood to her feet, stretching her arms up high over her head and letting the dry grass fall from her clothes, which were becoming increasingly uncomfortable. She nearly thought about taking it off like she usually did when she was alone, but then, she wasn't alone, and she blushed at the thought of embarrassing herself like that.
She dragged her feet over to the door, and stood in front of it, and for a moment, all she could do was stare. Having never really visited someone's home before, she wasn't educated on the proper etiquette of entering one's house. Finally, after much hesitation, she rapped her knuckles against the door as a warning, then slowly opened the door and stepped inside.
The aroma within the house was much stronger than it had been outside, and it sent her instinctive senses wild. She just wanted to chow down on some poor creature. It didn't have to be cooked... or cleaned for that matter. She was starving.
"K-Kaige?" She spoke softly, entering the kitchen. And amazingly, she smiled. Although, it was one of those "hey, glad to see you feeling better," type of smiles.
"Hey." She whispered her good morning. "Um...Glad to see you feeling better." She matched her words with her smile. "You, are feeling better, aren't you? I mean... you look better. Healthier that is... Well, you look good anyway. I guess health makes a difference too-" Against her will, she forced herself to shut up, her cheeks flushed from embarrassment at the show she had just put on.
"I'm sorry." She tried to start over. "Good morning." She shrugged, thinking that she probably shouldn't try to say too much. The smell of breakfast drowned her senses, and she found herself staring hungrily at the pan of crisping bacon. "That looks... good." She practically drooled.

It had never occured to Kaige to look out the window. Had he done that, he would've seen Salena sleeping outside in his yard under a group of bushes. But being how he was, he was already lost in his thoughts. He began to wonder what it would be like to have a family in the human world. It couldn't be much different than a wolf family, give or take a few things. While he didn't really mind being alone, he did get rather bored and possibly sometimes lonely being on his own, out in the middle of nowhere in a strange world. That was his own little secret, though, and he would never share it with anyone.
As he scrambled some eggs and fried a considerable amount of bacon, he started to think about settling down. Maybe find himself an alright girl and go from there. The thought of another relationship, specifically one in the human world, made him laugh out loud. "Yeah, right," he said as he shook his head, still chuckling to himself. He doubted he would find anyone he could stand anyway, or find someone who could put up with him. The thought of Salena crossed his mind, but that only made him laugh louder. He wasn't sure what was going on between them, but he didn't see a relationship. Not at that time, anyway. He knew well enough she'd put up with anything he did or said, she had before, but still. He wasn't really sure what would happen and he didn't know if he wanted to find out any time soon.
Kaige hadn't heard Salena enter so when she spoke, he nearly jumped, dropping the spatula he was holding. "Geez!" he growled, scooping down to pick up the fallen utensil. "Can't make your presence known beforehand?" he asked irritably, looking rather cross. His expression smoothed out after a moment, having been more annoyed at being startled than anything. "Where the hell did you come from?" he asked as he turned back to the food, removing them from the stove. "Didn't see you around anywhere." He hadn't looked outside and still never thought to do so. "Go off to be weird somewhere else?" He walked over to a cabinet and pulled out a plate, then opened a draw and got a fork.
"You can have some if you want," he said with a half shrug as he sat down at the table with his full plate. "I don't care." He fell silent after that and began to dig into his plate of food, his mind going elsewhere. [/blockquote] [Sucky post is sucky.]

Salena would have laughed at having startled Kaige, but she was more focused on his comments he had said afterwards. She gave a half scowl. "I knocked..." She muttered almost inaudibly, then dropped it like it was no big deal, because really, it wasn't.
"I was...outside." She shrugged. "I think it might take some time for me to get used to all those soft couches and beds." She eyed the bacon hungrily, and was delighted to hear him say she could have some. She nearly just grabbed a handfull and thrust it into her mouth, but after seeing Kaige grab a plate and pile it onto one, she thought she ought to do the same. Sheeze, whem had Kaige become so civilized?
She took a plate shyly, glancing back at Kaige to make sure he wasn't growling at her behind her back. When she saw that he wasn't, he went for the bacon, barely noticing the eggs. She never cared for eggs anyway. She grabbed a considerably large amount of bacon, easily filling the plate up with bacon alone. Salena looked, sounded, and sometimes acted pretty geaceful, but all that easily dispeared when she was around food. She felt more and more animal being around Kaige's house. Normally, that suited her just fine. But at the moment, she almost just wanted to feel human. After all, most humans would probably throw a person in a mental institute for sleeping in the bushes, scarfing down food, and howling at the moon like she so often did.
She akwardly made her way to the table and sat down, dropping her plate onto its surface. The noise it made startled her, and she realized she probably should have set the plate down gently. She hoped Kaige hadn't noticed, and then she remembered startling him as he was finishing up cooking, and she couldn't help but chuckle in her seat.
"Erm, sorry for startling you." She tried to say calmly, but burst into a fit of giggles. It had been a long time since she had had a good laugh. She hoped she wasn't embarassing Kaige, but at the same time, she did find it funny. "I kind of forgot we were human..." She finally tried to explain herself. "It slipped my mind how easily it is to sneak up on someone... I'm sorry about that. Um, thanks for the grub though."
Then she turned her attention to her food, and began shoveling the bacon into her mouth, chewing loudly and enjoying each bite. "This is great!" She exclaimed through a mouthful. She had tried bacon just one other time when her "friends" took her out for breakfast. That experience wasn't the best... they had told her that they expected her to pay her own way, but when she explaned to them that she had no money, they were pretty upset with her. At least this meal was free.
She swallowed an exeptionally crunchy piece of bacon without hardly chewing, then turned her attention back to Kaige and stopped eating for a moment, giving her time to recover and breath. "Thanks..." Was all she said. It wasn't much, but in reality, she was very grateful he was letting her into his home, and eating his food. She had never expected to be treated so nicely, so she was very thankful. Even if it didn't show in her words or actions, you could see it in her eyes.
She cleared her throat, then went back to chowing down.

"Okay then." It was all Kaige had to contribute to the conversation. He had nothing more to say after that as he continued to chew on his piece of bacon, staring out the window mindlessly. He didn't think it was weird that she slept outside. He should have assumed that's where she had been, considering she didn't have a real home of her own to sleep in. His mind started to wander to other places as it usually did and he suddenly remembered someone calling his name right before he woke up. He couldn't quite place who it belonged to, but it had sounded somewhat familiar. There hadn't been anyone in his room when he woke up, so no one could've been hiding in there and then run off that quickly.
He was about to ask Salena if she had said anything while she was outside, but figured it was best to keep his mouth shut. If she hadn't, and she most likely didn't, it would just look like he was crazy because he was hearing voices when no one was there. Maybe this was all just some messed up dream and he would wake up any second and come back to reality. As if he was checking, he pinched his arm rather hard, but everything was still the same. Muttering something under his breath, he pushed his chair back and got up, dumping his plate in the sink. He no longer had much of an appetite. Maybe he was starting to lose his mind. Maybe he'd just commit himself to one of those mental institutions and be alone. Then he could be at peace. Maybe, maybe not. The idea didn't seem like a bad one.
He rested his hands on the ledge of the sink, staring out the window. It was a nice day out. Sun was out, no sign of clouds anywhere, and it was probably warm. Off in the distance of the forest, movement caught his eye. He strained to see what it was, but it was hard. He was about to look away and assume it was just some sort of critter running around until he saw a flash of color. His eyes narrowed and he leaned in closer. Animals didn't wear clothes, did they? He shook his head. Of course they didn't. That was a stupid thing to question. He saw it again, but it quickly vanished. He gripped the ledge, his knuckles turning white. What the hell was going on? Was there someone out there, or was he losing his mind? [/blockquote]

Salena didn't even mind that Kaige seemed to hardly be paying any attention to it. Infact, she honestly didn't care to have people watch her eat. It was something she was getting somewhat used to, but she was still uncomfortable about it, especially since she knew she ate so much different than most people. They often stared at her when she scarfed down her food... it made her feel aweful creeped out. At least this wasn't the case here.
She finished her food, and copied Kaige, dropping her plate, though much more carefully than before, into the sink. She had an urge to turn the water on and begin to wash them, a weird obsessive compulsive habit she had mysteriously obtained through becoming human. Maybe it was some sort of reaction to something in the forest, but she had recently found that she likes things clean. She did her best to ignore it though, but secretly hoped Kaige would ask her to wash them or at least wash them himself so they weren't lying around so dirty.
She still had quite the apetite. She knew she could easily eat a second plate of bacon. She could probably eat an entire pig whole, but she decided against pigging out on Kaige's food. Now that she thought about it, he had probably worked hard to earn that bacon, and she felt kind of bad for taking as much as she did.
She noticed Kaige glaring intently at the window, and she cocked her head, just like she used to do as a wolf to show her confusion. She didn't question him on it. She didn't want to seem nosey. Instead, she glanced a peek outside, but saw nothing. She shrugged to herself, and stepped away from Kaige, finding herself glancing around the place again, noticing every nook and cranny and tracing her fingers against the grains of the wood.
"This means a lot to me." She finally spoke up, hoping to ease some of the awkward silence between them, though she was probably making it worse. "I've never had anyone invite me into their home... so..." She laughed nervously. "You're still the nicest person to me." It sounded like a silly statement, but she meant it. It was true. Kaige was the first person who didn't judge her just because of her personality quirks or eating habits. Sure, it was probably because he knew where she had come from, but it was still a big deal to her.
"I'll leave anytime you want me to... or stay... you know. Whatever." She didn't want to sound like she was trying to leave. Infact, it was quite the opposite. She liked being around Kaige. He knew her better than anyone else in this life could ever hope to know her. Still, she wanted to make sure that he knew that she would obey him if he gave her a command. She also wanted to help give herself confidence if he didn't ask her to leave. It meant he cared enough at least to keep her around for a little while, and that meant the world to her.
"I'll do whatever." She clarified, but she wasn't just talking about staying or leaving. At the moment, if he asked her to go out and hunt down a giant spider for dinner, she would. Sure, she was human, but she was still a wolf on the inside, and Kaige had once more become her alpha. She wanted to follow him, and to obey him. It was just the sort of person she had always been, and probably would always be.
----
Her feet carried her swiftly through the woods. It was becoming increasingly easy to run in heels. Infact, she almost preferred it over going barefoot, easily dodging over grown roots and shrubs. By now, she knew this forest like the back of her hand, or most of it anyway. She was now beginning to head into unexplored territory, and the adrenaline and excitement pumped through her veins.
She loved the feeling of the sun beating down on her cheeks and shoulders, perfecting her tan. Her goldenrod eyes shuffled through the layers of trees, scanning both the ground and the tree tops for any new species of flower or weed she could use in one of her herbal concoctions. Most of the plants looked the same as she had seen everywhere else in the forest, but she didn't slow in her search.
Finally, she spotted something unusual out of the corner of her eyes, her fantastic vision drawing in her curiosity. She seperated herself from her trail to investigate. She discovered a root, growing oddly through the grass, almost as if it was out of place. She looked around for the tree to match, but none had the same wood pattern as this. It was darker, and almost dead in appearence, but she could sense the sap flowing through it.
Carefully, she used her bare hands to dig around it, until her finger nails hit stone. She had uncovered the root's source, but in doing so, she only added to the mystery. The root was growing from what looked like a rock... Not as if it were rooted on the rock, but as if it was actually growing from inside the rock. Treating it as though it were a sensative bomb, she removed it from the earth and held it up to the light to get a better look.
Now that she could see it a little better, it looked as if the rock was actually a petrified seed of some sort. She knew it was something she wanted to take home and study a bit closer, perhaps experiment with in her garden, but at the moment, she had nothing to carry it in. She hadn't expected to find something unusual. Infact, that wasn't even the reason she was out in this area of the woods, but she always scanned for something new, just incase she stumbled across something magnificent while out on her job or chores, like she just had.
She replaced it into its hole and reburied it, praying that she had disturbed the growth in some way. She stood back to her feet and brushed the dirt from her hands onto her pants. Then she placed her hand on the closest tree, and concentrated. A moment later, the area of the tree that her hand had been touching instantly caught flames, scorching a jagged path through the bark until it quickly puffed its last bit of smoke and cooled, leaving a mark she could smell a mile a way. Now, she could come back to it when she was more prepared.
Satisfied with her find, she left the area, though she had slowed to a walk, taking her time to stroll through this new area of the woods. She had come out here because of the rumours of a giant moth-like creature, which, according to the rumours, had a unique substance in the fluid from its eyes that would heal even the most severe wounds. The moth was also said to be able to breath fire... It was basically the insect version of herself, and she desperately wanted to find it.
So far, the search had been fruitless, but she in no way wanted to give up. The most evidence she had found were a few burn marks on a few of the trees. They were old, and easily could have been caused by a small forest fire, but it was still intriguing evidence, and it had given her some hope. Unlike her last search that had failed miserably, she hoped she would find something. She didn't want to wind up disappointed like last time, all though in all reality, she had been more than just disappointed in her last failure.
Her search brought her to something she hadn't really expected to find... a house. She didn't remember hearing any stories of the company, or any company in Taikai Ueki, building a house out in the middle of such dangerous woods. Her instincts made her realize that it must have been a personal job, and being into construction like she was, she could appreciate the quality and size of the house. It wasn't as decorated as those back in the clearing, it was much simpler. And in a way, she almost preferred it to the house she was currently living in back at the city.
Reminding herself that she wasn't there to shop for houses, she wondered if anybody was actually currently living in the house at the time. Her curiosity was quickly releaved at the faint smell of food having been cooked from inside. A small smile etched itself onto her face, and she shoved her red hair behind her shoulders. Perhaps if somebody had been living here, they might have caught a glimpse of the legendary critter she had decided to hunt. Any information at all would be helpful, really.
She approached the door, anticipating the person who was living there. She guessed it could have been some crazy hermit, locked away from the outside world. Or maybe some psycho mountain man who preferred to live off the land. Or maybe some paranoid person hiding a rare animal from the rangers. Who ever it was, she wasn't scared of them. She was hardly ever scared, and more often curious than anything. She tapped her knuckles against the wooden door numerous times, hoping they would have heard her, and hoping they would at least answer the door so she could ask them a few questions.

Kaige came to the assumption that he was losing his mind. He saw the flash of color once more, but he was too far away to figure out what the thing was. Surely there wasn't anyone out in the forest, especially near his house. He was too far in to have people regularly coming through. And besides that, who really wanted to walk through a forest that possessed giant man eating bugs? He could come up with two people and one of them was him. The other was sitting at the table eating the bacon he made. Then again, they weren't like the every day normal kind of person. They were different, but no human would ever know that. He thought he saw movement again, but he shook his head. "God, I'm losing it," he muttered out loud, having meant to keep that a quiet thought. Talking to himself probably didn't make things look any better, but he really didn't care at that point.
Muttering a few more things, he pried himself away from the window and turned his back to it, now leaning against the counter top. He crossed his arms across his bare chest and exhaled loudly, sending a few strands of tangled hair across his face. He was starting to feel normal and less... strange, so to put it, with Salena being around. Maybe things would start to get back to normal now, or as close to normal as they could get. A relationship was still out of the question, but he assumed he could have her as a friend. There couldn't be any harm in that, but then again, what did he know? She could, most likely, do something to hurt him. Not all friendships lasted forever.
Hearing her talking snapped him from his thoughts and he looked over to her, appearing somewhat annoyed. "Will you just shut up?" he snapped, scowling slightly. He didn't know what it was, but something about her words were starting to irritate him. Maybe it was because she was repeating herself again, or maybe it was because... well, he didn't really know. but it was something. "Just shut up," he said, although this time he seemed calmer and his expression had softened up. "You don't have to keep saying the same thing over and over again. I get it." He shook his head and pushed himself away from the counter, walking over to the refrigerator. "And no, I don't mean shut up as in literally, shut up," he said as he opened the refrigerator door and grabbed a gallon of orange juice.
"Just shut up with that," he said before taking a long drink straight from the bottle. He screwed the cap back on and shoved the juice back into the fridge and turned back to her. "Keep it up and I'll kick you out." His expression was void of anything and it was hard to tell if he was joking or if he was being serious. It wasn't always easy figuring things out with him. He was a complex person. "Anyway... I should probably make myself look presentable." It didn't really matter to him. He didn't mind lounging around in shorts all day with a tangled mass of hair, but he wasn't sure if he was making her uncomfortable. "I'm sure you know where everything is by now?" he asked, raising a brow. "Don't do anything stupid," he said as he began to walk out of the kitchen, not explaining what he meant by that.
His right foot was on the bottom stair when someone knocked on the door. For a second, he froze. "Who the hell is that?" he wondered out loud, turning his gaze to the door. He then thought back to the hospital and wondered if they had sent someone out to look for him. Even if they had, how would they have found him out here? He was well away from the city and off the radar. He couldn't think of who else it would be. Definitely not some regular person unless someone had been wandering through the forest, but again, who would do that? After a few minutes hesitation, he stepped back from the stairs and quietly walked over to the door, his hand pausing on the knob. "God, I hope this isn't some idiot from the hospital trying to take me away," he muttered before opening the door.
When the door swung open, he saw only a girl standing there. He stared her down silently, his gray eyes showing confusion. She didn't look like someone that would come from the hospital and she didn't look like one of those ranger people, so who was she? She looked harmless, but looks could be deceiving. "Uh... hello...," he spoke slowly, clearly stumped as to how someone found there way here. "Can I help you with something?" [/blockquote]

In the past, Salena might have gotten upset over Kaige's words, but that wasn't the case this time. This time, she smiled, and it was genuine. She realized how annoying she must have been getting, and she knew it was indeed time to shut up. She even appreciated the way Kaige had said it. It meant he was back to his old self, which meant he must have been feeling better, but it also meant that perhaps he really didn't have any problem with her staying, and that actually gave her a huge confidence boost.
"Yes sir." She finally said with a slight snort. It might have sounded sarcastic, but she wasn't being sarcastic at all. She was simply following the instructions of her alpha, and damn did it feel good to belong in a pack again, even if she was just pretending. She watched him chug down a bit of orange juice and put it back into the fridge. It both made her thirsty, and repulsed. She never had a problem with sharing drinks before, but she was human now... and drinking from the bottle... wasn't that a little weird? She supposed it would be fine if it was just himself, which it had been. She could always drink water from the tap. She could really kill for a sprite, though.
She had heard the knock at the door and was just as curious as Kaige. She snuck out to make sure it wasn't some goon from the hospital, but left back to the kitchen when it looked to be nobody but a citizen. It was weird that someone would be way out in the woods there, but she would worry about that later. Right now, she was just thirsty, and she was going to use the time while Kaige was distracted to grab a drink and do the dishes.
She snatched a cup fom the cupboard and filled it up from the sink, gulping it down almost instantly. Feeling somewhat refreshed, she returned it to the sink and hunted down a sponge or a rag and soap to wash the dishes with.
-----------
As the door opened before her, she glued her eyes to the man. He wearing just a pair of shorts; something she half expected. She hadn't, however, expected to see a younger man with such a nice body... except for the noticable scars. Perhaps he was an ex soldier... though at his age, probably not. She wasn't one to judge. She herself was older than anyone she had ever known. Besides, she wasn't here to judge, she was just here to get some information.
"Hi." She said, her deep feminine voice spoke almost intimidatingly. "I'm from the city... Let me introduce myself." She tried to hurry before he could shut the door. "I'm currently on a hunt for a certain insect... do you mind if I could come in and ask a few questions? I promise I won't be too long." She looked him up and down. "Unless you want me to." She joked with a slight laugh. "My name is Karin." She held out one of her gloved hands in hopes of shaking his.
She had no clue how this guy would react, but she desperately wanted some new clues to finding this bug. She also hoped for some information about why he was living in the woods, but that was just to quench her curiousity, and she probably wouldn't even bring it up. She realy hoped she could at least take a step into his house to get a better look at how this guy lived.
