Riku Haru's history started on the basis of survival, and since then has blossomed into a thriving, rich, beautiful region. However, the transition was not easy. Many hearts were broken and lives lost. The history of Riku Haru is perhaps the most tragic of all the cities in Camauren.
The Marie was a massive ship. It was desgined to carry passangers from all over the planet to different Countries, serve as a cruise ship for the wealthy, and also as a pioneering ship, where they would set out to discover new islands. On a brave cruise, The Marie was scheduled to head towards the uknown region of camauren. While the cruise was not nearly as full as it could have been, there were still hundreds of passangers, with nearly one hundred crew mates.
The ship was not allowed to venture too close to Camauren, just enough to get a peek at the area where sea monsters were rumored to live. However, the ocean current became amazingly strong, and just too much for the cruise ship to handle. The ship plowed through sandbars. A special attachment to the ship that came in handy were the blades specifically made for cutting straight through sandbars, and luckily, the ship just cut through most of the sandbars.
The sirens alarmed, and the passangers ran to the sides of the ship. They were heading towards a mountainous island. The blades on the ship were powerful, sharp... but not sharp enough. The ship plowed into the island, cutting straight through the mountain until it was lodged inside of it. Lambertus Pettersen, captain of The Marie, was killed, along with 90% of the passangers and crew. It was a miracle that there were any survivors at all.
The survivors of The Marie knew that their lives were changed. Without a ship, there was no way off the island, and even if they had a ship, the current would just pull them right back in and crash them again. They had to start off anew. Berni Sall, co-captain of The Marie took charge as leader, and did an amazing job keeping everybody alive. They swam to a new island, not very far from the one they had crashed through, and found the only source of fresh water that they could reach.
For years, the survivors lived there, fighting off the man eating plants, drinking the high mineral fresh water. The water was known to make them stronger, give them more energy, but it did not come without a price. If too much of the water was drank, it would eventually get to your brain, and you would slowly lose your sanity.
Berni Sall was highly favored amongst the people, until one day, she lost it. She became like a wild animal, as well as a few other crew members and passengers. They fled into the wild, and became their own, seperate tribe. Most of the tribe was killed, along with Berni Sall. It was the second major tragedy in Riku Haru's history.
The remaining survivors were only slightly effected by the water, and over time, discovered alternative water sources. They figured out how to purify the salt water, and eventually built small boats that would take them to the main land, where they found lakes and would bring over the water for the people to drink. Still, they kept the mineral water, but limited its use.
The citizens moved their people to the main island, where the ship had crashed years ago. They built onto it after discovering remains of other sunken ships and other sea vessels, using the left over parts to modify The Marie into the captital building. Other buildings were built, and soon the people spread into all the islands, although mostly avoiding Tejina. Rumors that the wild tribal members continue to exist, living in a shell of their former selves, more animal than huamn.
