These brief paragraphs were taken out of the secret books from the hidden room inside the Libray. These passages are completly unknown to the regular citizens of the city, and even the Leader himself.
The City of Tall Trees was founded by Fernando H.R. Esperanza, after chasing a white elk into the forest. After becoming lost in the forest for three years, he finally found the right trails out of the forest, but instead of finding the
utside, he only managed to find the clearing within the trees. His outrage for being lost didn't last very long. After a while, the shear beauty of the clearing made him forget his past troubles. He built himself a small house on the middle of a lake where he could look out and see its beauty from the windows.
A few years later, Esperanza left his home to return to his city, where he told his family and friends about the clearing in the forest. They left their old city to start a new one there, and built their houses up off the ground to protect the beauty they saw. A few years later, when the city started to grow, it was decided that a government needed to be formed. Esperanza became Leader, with his dear friend, Armando Valdez, as his advisor.
Laws were formed to protect the people within the city, and since most of its people were friends and family of Esperanza, he loved the city very much. Valdez in his greed created a conspiracy, and secretly took control of the city. When Esperanza found out, Valdez locked him away in an underground prison where he spent the remainder of his life. A new Leader took place, with Valdez as his advisor. The city was completely oblivious about the lies and secrets that Taikai Ueki held, and most lived completely happy lives surrounded by the beauty of Taikai Ueki. Future Leaders were never told about the conspiracy, and the Advisors took control of the city.
A library was built to hold the books that kept piling up in Taikai Ueki, and soon nobody was allowed to own a book. Books were only to be borrowed from the library, and any books sent to the city had to go to the library. Any books about wars, violence, or sorrow were locked away, along with the books about the conspiracy. Only books about beauty and happiness where allowed to be seen by the public, in order to make the people believe that the city truly was a perfect safe haven.
Librarians were told the secret and given the job to protect that secret. A man by the name of David Rios was the first man to be brutaly murdered because of library's secrets. Isabel Perez founded a hospital in the city, and her mystic healing powers were found to come in handy. She was appointed City shamin, as were her kids after her. The hospital itself held secrets as well, and Isabel was killed after learning about these secrets.
For years after this, the conspiracy took its hold on the city, completely unnoticed. The city grew and thrived. Its people lived a very happy, content life. Love and beauty was all around them, and the wild flowers only grew more beautiful each day.
Still, the advisors were the people controlling the city, not the Leaders. A military was formed, and the strongest and quickest people were drafted into its ranks. Once chosen for the military, a person's family was told that they were dead, usually of an illness or bug bites. They never came home. Usually, the missions were suicide. Only the most trustworthy soldiers were allowed to return to their homes, though they were constantly kept under close eye. Nobody was allowed to leak the secret, or severe punishment would come to them and everyone who knew.
In later years, the hospital thrived. More and more money seemed to be coming into it, pulled out from the citizen's pay. It grew each year, but nobody could understand why. Injuries were rare, almost unheard of. The crime rate was way down due to increased security, and yet still the hospital grew in size. The truths were hidden from the people in the village. Taikai Ueki used the plants in the surrounding forests to come up with hundreds of deadly poisons, all serving different purposes.
There were poisons that killed instantly. Poisons that caused a slow, painful death. Poisons that could make someone insane, lose their sight, hearing, or speech. These poisons were used for all sorts of painful torture that took place in the hospital, all of which went unheard by the citizens. The doctors became the city's most deadly weapons.
Recently, the city has been planning their attack. They know it will still take some time, but with innocent citizens at their disposal and deadly toxins, Taikai Ueki's forces were growing stronger. The Advisors will stop at nothing to rule the entire region.
